Is Tre gonna call Armstrong 50+ times today saying "give me Schenn" and eventually Armstrong will say "OK, you can have him, just stop calling me!"
The time for that has been any point over the last 5 years. The time for moves like that was last year when we had the option to move Marner or Nylander.
Letting Tavares and Marner walk for nothing and attempting to replace them in free agency...well it would certainly be an interesting endeavour.
But that's been the case for years, it's time for change, starting with Shanahan and to be honest Treliving as well, this core has been overpaid from the very start, they just don't work, Reilly is atrocious, Marner and Matthews don't have the drive to be the best, it's time for change it's been long long overdueIf so, it's infuriatingly atrocious asset management.
Price on Schenn seems to have come down. I would a 1st and Robertson if we got retention. Nothing more. If there is no deal there, that's fine.
They want to blame ANYONE but the $10M+ gang. You know whose fault that would be?
The core's fault. Not any depth additions. It's the core's fault.

Oh my God do you honestly think depth pieces (the only things we can afford asset-wise) are going to truly move the needle here? What about the GM? He's supposed to be making the moves to get us better. That's what the atlantic is doing right now, making their teams better in order to go into a deep playoff run.

I can't see them not doing anything, not with Shanahan's legacy and reputation in the balance.
Also, if Treliving wants to prove he's more than a nepo baby who keeps falling upwards, then doing nothing after a quite uneventful tenure so far isn't really his best move either.
Reilly was beyond terrible last playoffs, beyond terrible actually still doesn't equate to how bad he wasRielly has been amazing in the playoffs, why does everyone pretend that playoffs matter for everyone and then stop when it comes to Rielly?
With that price we better win the whole goddamn thing. We're going to manage to swap one of the big 3 prospects for Grebenkin and call it a win.
2026 1st + Cowan + Danford + Grebenkin for Schenn
I'd be sick. Only way I would ever recover is if we went to the final 4 teams at least
add in nylander to that and u got a dealRobertson, Benoit, and a pick for Ferraro.
Our LACK of frugality is the root of why we are in this goddamn mess to begin with.L
That frugality could be the reason the Leafs don’t get a cup. I hope Tre is of a different mindset.
Could the leafs win a cup and put them selves over the top by adding a force down the middle in Brayden Schenn? Yes.
Is this the best chance to go for it? Absolutely imo
Most of these prospects won’t work out anyways
Time to go for it is now!!
I think ferraro would be a good pick up, but that seems a bit rich don't you think?Robertson, Benoit, and a pick for Ferraro.
2 nothings and a pick?I think ferraro would be a good pick up, but that seems a bit rich don't you think?
St Louis is back in the race. schenn likely stays put
