We are 11 points out of a playoff position with a lot of decent players that will not be around when we become competitive. Leaving our 16 and 17 year olds out of the conversation, Who can we trade for assets? #SELLTHETEAM

Becks play at the WJC would indicate that he is a gamer and would want that ring on the finger.

I think the plan when he was added last year to The Pete’s was that he would get a second go with a competitor this year.
His play at the WJC indicates he wants that gold medal.

The Petes plan in dealing for him last year was to win a championship. They paid a high price knowing he could be dealt this year in a rebuild for generous return to help regain some of the assets they gave up to get him.

What were the assets in the Beck trade last season?

Brantford is a solid team. If they add they will be a dangerous team to contend with for the opposition. Great franchise that does thing right. Rangers really don't have the assets to compete for Beck. They are rebuilding this year. What you see if a mirage.

You could say that about each of the top 6 teams in the East. At least one of them will sell, probably two.

Maybe even three. But two of those teams really should make a real attempt at the 2-3 seeds.

Sudbury will buy.
North Bay will nibble a but
Missy will nibble a bit. Add an OA for sure. Maybe they upgrade an OA as well.
Kingston will sell
Oshawa may nibble a bit
Ottawa should sell but I think they will add an OA Centre and call it a day

That leads us to Brantford. An interesting situation. Andlauer now owns the Senators. Staios is now the GM in Ottawa. Jay McKee will be the next Senators coach. They have some picks saved up. This smells like a team that will make a strong push. One last run with the old guard. Then pass the team on to the new crew next year. Let them build their own team from scratch. If they don’t do that, they will sell off and leave the next management/coaching crew with a big cabinet of picks and a strong foundation.

Petes, and Barrie will sell. Niagara will stay mostly status quo.

I’ve believed the bulldogs will want to make a strong first impression on Brantford. I think they have the room and means to acquire (Punnet & Misiak) if available.

To me, they will transition. It really depends on the Mission for that franchise right now. With so much focus on the NHL team, I wonder how their focus shifts away from Brantford at this point. What is their commitment going forward? Will Andlauer sell the team now or will he continue to give it the attention it needs? A lot of questions and we are about to get all the answers I think.

I see Oshawa adding an 05 Forward for picks is my only prediction. Maybe move an 04 for the right deal but likely not.

Flip North Bay and Kingston, IMO. The Frontenacs have a pretty good competitive core. They only have a few tweaks to put together a good roster that mostly returns next season.

North Bay's already taken their two shots and they're graduating their top talent after this season. Best move is for them to cash in and reload. Missing too many pieces to keep up with the top dogs.

I'm see Hunt trading for an 05 left shot defenseman.
I forsee Oshawa grabbing an Import Defensemen but who knows. The deadline will tell. I just don't see them moving any of their 04s until next year. They will likely wait to see if Roobroeck gets signed or not.

Hasn’t been posted in here yet so I figured I’d post it. Jeff Marek yesterday during 32 thoughts said all indications say the Soo Greyhounds are front runners to land Owen Beck.

Has anyone heard anything about Kingston or their players? If you have- if you could dm me I would appreciate that.

If Canada doesn't turn this quarterfinal around, world junior Team Canada trade freeze lifting early might kick start the trade deadline moves.
I've never seen a team so hesitant to shoot the puck. They consistently try to make the extra pass, even passing out of dangerous scoring chances. So bizarre for such a talented group. I would imagine that will shake things up with OHL trade activity.

Remember the time Shane Wright was traded to the London Knights?

In other words a lot of fake news

It's rarely fake news. It's based on ongoing conversations. London was definitely in on Shane Wright last year, which is what was reported. London was not willing to part with the player needed to get the deal done and Kingston pivoted.

Same with this year. Marek is not reporting that the deal is done. Just that the Soo may be a frontrunner. Conversations are being had. May not be the ultimate destination. Time will tell.

Doesn't mean any of it is fake news.

This wasn’t a very talented group compared to Canadian teams from previous years. The big ice surface compounded it.

Sweden skated circles around Canada and completely dominated their game.
