This is what I was wondering. They could and I think they will make moves that will improve them this year but won't impact a stronger position next year. They are a bit early but we have seen teams double dip successfully before and I think they are in a spot to do this starting this year. I think they will be definitely in the mix coming out of the trade deadline.

To me, the big question is whether they use a decent amount of their picks to bring in an impactful 19 year old that is nearly a 100% chance to return for an OA season next year. Either way they are going to acquire an OA for next year’s roster. They only have two ‘04s on the current roster. To me, that could be their most impactful move and it doubles as an addition for next year.

They will still add an OA. But, as @dirty12 is suggesting, it may not be something super impactful. I agree. I think if they make a big move it is for the 19 year old that is returning. I think they add a character guy that can help further the culture of the team.

If a kid like Melee is available, he could be a really solid 19 year old and then couple him with Dubois as an OA and you have two recent Champions added to the roster. The cost wouldn’t be overly ambitious either.

Not much talk on here about Mississauga but any thoughts on they might make some adds to get them near the top? Weak east, they have a good team ( but young), they have assets. Yes they will be better next year but a couple of adds might put them in the Memorial Cup this year and still have a shot again next year? Thoughts?

I've heard at least one Windsor player's name mentioned within this topic. Smoke? Fire? That I can't say.

they were a 3 line team. lets not be salty about them winning it all last year

They were far from a 3 line team. They were a two line team.

They had seven key forwards. Stillman mostly played 3rd line 5 on 5 but also got PP and PK time. The next highest scoring forward was Melee with 5 points and then Purdeller and Dubois with 3 points.

That was as top heavy of a team you could even piece together. The sheer number of 5 on 5 minutes the top two lines played was astonishing.

Their deadline deals took any chance of that being a three line team and threw it into the trash bin. They concentrated all of their scoring onto two lines.

There was a huge drop-off in talent after the 7 all-stars. But Meele-Dubois-Stillman along with LeFebvre and Purdeller were among most reliable checking line players in the league imo.

That Shane wright one last year shows just how the so called “insiders” aren’t as smart as they let on.

Bring back ohlinsiders

The frustrating reality is that you can have a deal that appears to be done, only for it to flop at the last second. I saw it with the Spitfires several years ago.

I’m pretty sure when Kingpin is talking about being three deep he wasn’t talking about zero offence players On the 3rd line. I am pretty sure they can send out a few checkers comparable to Purdeller, Dubois and Melee and keep it in a low minus for the playoffs Like the Petes did last year.

Mind you, those minuses were better than Beck’s -5. So, you may be right.

That’s why one keeps there mouth shut until the deal is done

What deal were you referring to?

I think the Wright to London deal involving Bonk was the one they are referring to. Some suggest it was Bonk that nixed the deal but most suggest there never was a deal.

It was several years ago. I won't name the teams but it involved an eastern player that was supposed to come to windsor until another eastern team wound up with him instead. The conversation has always stuck in my head.

If all the playoff teams stacked the top six as the Petes did, none might have enough to better; Melee-Dubois-Stillman
