ZERO possible chance of Saginaw dealing Misa at next year’s deadline. They’re not going to give away the payday they’ll collect from him being a 1st round NHL pick.

Maybe at the 2026 deadline - - assuming he’s still in junior - - but definitely not at next year’s deadline.

That payday is even more leverage in the trade…..

I think it will come down to how impactful he is the remainder of the season. If they feel he is going to graduate, he will be traded.

There is an unwritten rule for these types of marquis players. If Saginaw is rebuilding, he will be traded. The league wants marquis players on marquis teams. There is no way they would want Misa on a rebuilding team for his last year.

Hearing Mayich to Kitchener for a few picks

That makes no sense at all unless Ottawa is in on a stud 19 year old D-Man and needs the picks…. Or if Mayich requested the trade of course.

Mayich is Ottawa’s #1 D-Man….sort of. At least their top defender….

Erie
Is Erie awake? Not one move with minimal draft capital.

WJ
Trust me, I keep refreshing the media notes every so often. Erie has to make a move. There’s no way they’re content with being where we’re at. We need picks if we’re wanting to make a run in the next year or two.

Our draft cupboard is probably the most bare (prior to recent blockbuster trades) in the entire league.

Bruce was hired Sept 6 as an advisor - IceDogs Hire Bruce Boudreau As Senior Advisor - Niagara IceDogs

The Crane trade happened Nov 9, well after Bruce was hired - IceDogs Acquire Brody Crane From The Knights - Niagara IceDogs

I don't think Bruce has any control of what happens. He said in an interview that his job is to just be available whenever the owner asks him for advice.
In all fairness to Bruce, he was knee deep in Spangler Cup stuff at that time

Well thankfully the paragraph version of the media notes section only lasted a few hours… back to normal now and cleaned up a bit

Tired: This leaves no deals for the deadline on Wednesday

Wired: Saginaw buying this much sets up a great deadline next year with them being forced to recoup some assets by trading Michael Misa and Zayne Parekh
I don’t think they’ll trade Misa just because he puts people in the stands. However I definitely see guys like parekh, Willis, hay getting traded

I can see it now Misa will go straight to the nhl after next season. I can see Mississauga going all in next season and him going there to play with his brother. Saginaw would be crazy not to trade him next season in my opinion if they aren’t going to be competitive. I think they have like one draft pick left for the next 4 seasons.

The Steelheads have four 2nds in 2025. That’s a good start!

Let’s get through the 2024 deadline first before we start projecting trades for the 2025 deadline.

I thought Ottawa was going for it? Or are they allergic to their top players like Jack Beck...

If this is true, Boyd must have a plan to expend those picks to secure another stud defenseman that would in theory be upgrade over Mayich. Mayich is Ottawa's #1 d-man, in terms of minutes/usage.

Does the league have any say ?

Of course not but there has always been that underlying pressure to ensure the marquis players for the league aren’t wasting away on bottomfeeders.

Sell everyone except for the highest value player to gain a development fee? Maybe if the franchise values ticket sales and needs the development fee to keep the lights on. But, if they are one of those franchises, they aren’t hosting a Memorial Cup and surly aren’t’ participating in the heavy buy/heavy sell program. Those teams need consistent revenue.
