I've got no fundamental problem with making the team tougher to play against.

That said, I believe that should only be a priority when the team has a solid foundation and the talent level justifies it. What good is a tough team if they can't score and win games?

We don't need to worry about building a back to back winning team, let's worry about building a playoff team that can win a round first. That starts from the top two lines down, not the other way around.

MB may finally get it?
When two of our top three lines contain 4 smurfs we have zero chance.
King will be tried on the second and third lines count on it.
We are surely getting a centerman and here's to hoping Plek is done here.

No one cares
I think that getting bigger and tougher is a good move for the bottom lines, I would take those guys over Flynn Mitchell or Andrighetto and DD.

it's unreal how many moved Bergevin will make to push around pylons in the bottom 6 while he has literally done nothing for top 6

It's because it's very easy to get bottom 6 wingers, what is challenging is getting a top 6 winger. This is the big question here.

You need to score goals in the playoffs. That's what wins cups. You can have the best shutdown group in the league but you NEED TO SCORE GOALS TO WIN. Period. The shutdown guys who are remembered for their monster performances also had teammates that scored goals.

They are improvements, but the bottom 6 was not where the team was weak. So yes, not improvements where improvements are needed. They need a center, or at the very minimum a top 6 LW. I really don't give a **** about the bottom 6 frankly, they do not matter if the team has 1 line that can score.

Come on the bottom 6 is terrible.

Getting bigger not a need? Getting rid of Desharnais not a need?

Because we sure as hell are a bigger and tougher team to play against today than 1 week ago

We still can't score goals and the defense is still too slow to compete against any contenders without Price heroics.

But hey, bigger 4th line.

Rebuilding the 4th line is ok, but when you are generating basically zero offence from 3 of your 4 centers, any shuffling around the margins is pointless. You aren't going to win anything with Danault on your 1st line and Plekanec relegated to checking duties.

Still time left, but not expecting a miracle at this point.

Bergevin if you are all in with the Weber trade in the summer then go get a sniper.......Drouin or Skinner........McCarron,Juulsen,Lindgren,1st round pick and take back a bad contract if it's a deal with Tampa with Filppula.

Let's get Fillpula.

I dunno if TB would be willing to take Plekky off our hands, though.

I mean, I'm sure he's trying, but it's not like there's a lot available right now. For rentals, other than Vrbata is there anyone?

Then there's Landeskog, Duchene and Kane, but you'd certainly have to give up a ton to get them, and the teams trading them aren't in any rush to move them today if they feel like they could get more in the off-season..

It's easier getting a bottom 6 player than a top 6.

Do you think a top 6 player avaiable today is gonna be traded before 2pm? Hell no, all the GM are gonna wait for the big guys to milk the offers till the end.

At this point my guess is Landeskog is what Bergy is going after with Vrbata as a backup option. Getting Duchene doesn't make sense unless Pleks is going the other way for both cap reasons and due to the centers we have unless Galchenyuk is moved to wing.

I've seen this movie so many times now with Bergevin that move in off season ends up being another 4th line grinder with da character who is struggling in the league like Bergie did

That'd be dumb... I was scared for a moment we moved one of our 2nd rounder for King, but I'm happy with the price paid.

Wouldn't trade for rentals like Vrbata, personally. Hopefully Bergevin can make a splash with a Duchene/RNH/Eberle.

I hope to, but the cap space is getting tight.

MB won't trade his more precious assets to get one. And that is the price he would have to pay to get a Duchene.

Of course, if Avs are totally blind, they could accept guys like Beaulieu, Gally, McCarron, Andrighetto for him.
