I'm scared because I think it's his last move.

Or he will trade 1st+ for Vrbata.

That'd be dumb... I was scared for a moment we moved one of our 2nd rounder for King, but I'm happy with the price paid.

Wouldn't trade for rentals like Vrbata, personally. Hopefully Bergevin can make a splash with a Duchene/RNH/Eberle.

No. If you already have a NMC in your contract before the trade, your clause comes with you. The only way his NMC doesn't travel with him is if he accepts to waive it and keep it waived. That is up to the player.

If a player is traded BEFORE a NMC or NTC kicks in, the team acquiring him can take the option not to honor it. That's what happened with Subban.

Aah, alright. So he has to accept to keep it waived. I was under the impression that once you waive it you basically "lose" it.

He's been painting this picture for years.
Has never shown the ability to focus on the actual needs of the team. Full of excuses, short on talent GM.

Getting bigger not a need? Getting rid of Desharnais not a need?

Because we sure as hell are a bigger and tougher team to play against today than 1 week ago

Lets wait until after the deadline to review Bergy's work. You can't critique a picture that isn't fully painted. After Bergy can't get a top 6 winger by the deadline then he's open to all the criticism he deserves.

That's fair. But I have never seen a team completely revamp itself at the trade deadline, so adding a top 6 center/scorer while completely redoing the bottom 6 isn't exactly a surefire thing like some people here are implying.

Habs are gonna be the toughest team on the golf course.
Luckily the Leafs are improving and playoff bound so we can take their course reservations and tee times for the foreseeable future.

King wins board battle , crush people , can drop the gloves with anyone , has a solid in front of the net presence , decent defensively and can chip in here and there.

That's a good acquisition. And yes i know it doesn't feel the need for top 6 offense but it add another dimension to our bottom 6. I like it

Character++++ incoming Montreal, finally our star players will be insulated from the crappy facewash tactics applied by those teams, the ones without star players?:handclap::handclap::handclap: The Habs stars are tough fighting players, now they will have the backup needed. Steve Ott, Dwight King, Jordie Benn, :handclap::handclap::handclap:!!!!...............

A little off topic, but Bryzgalov is very entertaining on the Sportsnet panel. It's making it more watchable for me.

Im sure Shane Doan will be coming to MTL for his last/first cup run. Hes a LW he's bringing size.

With the capspace we have there's nothing left we can fetch. except maybe yakupov.

King and Ott coming in to me pushes Mitchell, Flynn, and Ghetto out. I expect at least two of them to be traded while one will stay in as 13th.

What? The playoffs is when these acquisitions are going to pay off the most! It's not just goals either, it's being good shut down guys.

Also, you admit they are improvements, but in the very next sentence you say they are not improvements where improvements are needed? So, you agree they improve our bottom 6, but you just didn't want to see the bottom 6 improved?

You need to score goals in the playoffs. That's what wins cups. You can have the best shutdown group in the league but you NEED TO SCORE GOALS TO WIN. Period. The shutdown guys who are remembered for their monster performances also had teammates that scored goals.

They are improvements, but the bottom 6 was not where the team was weak. So yes, not improvements where improvements are needed. They need a center, or at the very minimum a top 6 LW. I really don't give a **** about the bottom 6 frankly, they do not matter if the team has 1 line that can score.
