Wait he wanted to be a buyer? He thought that magical fairy dust run was more indicative than the ****show they started off with? He thought Ward could continue playing 80% of the games at 33? Woof

We were just 1pt back with 3 games in hand just 15 or so games ago, yes we were in a position to be buyers and compete.

The question isn't where they were. It seemed pretty unsustainable to me. Everyone has fallen back to earth like the start of the year and we're back to who we thought they were

I mean, he's not wrong. It can't be easy to set up deals expecting to be buyers, then suddenly switch to seller mode because the team forgot how to hockey during a week-long break.

It was fools gold at best though.

- Lowest payroll in the NHL
- Same two crappy goalies that failed last year.
- No real offensive talent added, except a rookie who frankly met expectations. Arguably the weakest top 6 in the NHL.
- Cast-offs from other teams.

That team was destined to be out of the playoffs from day one. Canes got lucky to play against back-up goalies for almost half of our games. Team had a bit of a hot streak that was proven to be unsustainable.

I'm fine with a patient "draft and develop" approach (as long as it doesn't end up causing relocation), but I can also recognize that the team, as constructed isn't competitive enough and shouldn't even consider buying..unless that buying is something huge and more long term, like Duchene/Landeskog.

At some point though, the team will need to make a move with some of these assets, or via UFA, to get better talent on offense. We aren't going to get a Matthews/McDavid/etc... via the draft. I'm not smart enough to know when that timeframe is.

But it's his job to get the team into the playoffs, so he wouldn't have been doing his job to simply ignore the possibility that the team could have made that extra push. So when they're 1 point away, I have no issue with RF looking at some extra help at that time.

But obviously, the team loses 5 straight, drops to the bottom of the conference and clearly isn't in the playoff hunt any longer, he has to switch gears and start looking for deals to sell the players he was just looking to help.

Depending on how long ago he made the decision of "OK, we're sellers", getting two deals (good deals, as well) done in that timespan is fine.

Facebook comments after Canes games are real cancer

Not really sure how Facebook comments work as it's not my thing. Is it something that has to be actively sought out, or is it fed to you, or is it your friends or whatever that do it? Regardless, just sounds like another good reason for me to stay away from it.

There is official Carolina Hurricanes page, where staff from organization is posting news and game recaps. You can comment on every post what they make, and people are very negative there after like every game we lose, no matter what happened or how we played. I think most of them don`t really understand how hockey is played, they just want to get their frustration out, and that`s one way to do it for them, to post **** afer Canes game.

Not all of the comments are like that, but many are just dumb.

Top comments usually show up first (they are voted up by "Likes"), but you can read all of them if you want to.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like much fun, but I'd imagine it's much the same for other teams. Probably the same as official message board morons and sports talk radio/after game call in morons you get with most teams. Oh well, we need all the fans we can get I suppose.

I think over here we have much better discussion about everything, and people understand hockey much better than casual facebook fans, so I think you are in the right place!

Without a doubt. Like I said, I don't love all the negativity at the moment, but it will mostly pass, and I certainly get where it's coming from. Man we really need Francis to make things happen this offseason. We deserve it.

Quitting Facebook was the best thing I've ever done.
