And how have all these picks helped us these last 8 years. I'm not saying we shouldn't draft/develop, but it's been 8 long years. It's now time to stop talking about rebuild and actually do something. GMRF said he had a 5 year plan, he's heading into year 4. There's been some positives...Aho, Slavin, Pesce. But it's still the same **** different season. We are now in a position where we have assets, it's time to use those. This team is hanging on a life line. I'm afraid if something isn't done to get fans back in that arena, then these Quebec rumors won't be rumors anymore.

And if Duchene or Landeskog go to a team out East for a price we could have matched or made better, you telling me people aren't going to be pissed that we sat still?

Ron Francis became GM on April 28, 2014, not even 3 years ago.

Why do I get the feeling that Tyler Johnson, when he gets away from Tampa isn't going to be very good any more. I'm probably way off base, but that's the vibe I get.

Maybe it's because his point per game average has declined significantly since his breakout 2015 season where he was about a .94 PPG player. Last year he was a .55 PPG player and this year he's on pace to be a .66 PPG guy.

I'd rather have Drouin or the more affordable Palat IMO.

I don't want to down play your frustration, as it's obviously justified. But there is a slight difference with the picks during the Francis regime, and the JR regime. I mean, JR never once his entire tenure had us acquire a second 1st rounder that we used. That's pretty huge to me. These last couple of years, we've made more picks than we pretty much ever did under JR during that period at least. That's a big difference. As I mentioned recently, the last time we were set to have so many seconds, JR traded two of them for garbage, and used another that we actually selected a player with to get rid of garbage in Boucher. RF traded picks for Teravainen and Lack, who obviously one hasn't worked great, and the jury is still out on the other, but they were both much more proven than the worthless trades JR made.

Of course he needs to turn all these young assets and picks into something big. And this offseason really seems like the best time to do that. But I think there are a lot of differences under Francis that are way different than the last years of JR.

Given some of the returns today for guys like Vanek, PAP, etc.. not surprising if there wasn't much of a market for JMac. there's still a little time I guess.

Looks like Francis got ahead of the action trading Stalberg for a 3rd. Not a bad haul given some of the deals today.

I'm with 247. We're not getting a No. 1 center or No. 1 goalie with our plethora of third-round picks. At some point, we've got to make a move for more talent, even if it's to move up in a draft. Francis's rebuilding plan is fun, but as of now, it seems like a great way to stay in 9th place indefinitely.

There's no doubt we're getting deeper. I just don't think we're getting any better.

I guess we'll see. I think a plethora of picks, promising prospects, and maybe an intriguing roster player like TT and our dmen could very well see us get those things. We won't know until late June/early July.

Curtis "1 Assist in 33 games" Lazar gets a 2nd. Where is the same deal for Murphy?

I think some folks are undervaluing role guys at this point in the season. Guys like Vanek and PAP are borderline top-6 guys who bring nothing to the table if they're not scoring. Stalberg is a bottom-6 guy with speed and some grit who has been a key cog in an elite penalty-killing unit.

The bottom line is that Stalberg may not be as talented as Vanek or PAP, but at this point in the season, he's more valuable. I don't think it had anything to do with timing. Stalberg just does more to help a team win.
