AS of late when in the offseason when he had a blood clot in his lungs? He has not played this season yet. Also he was the Flyers top dman last season at 36 years old. He comes with tons of experience and is the kind of player you want on the roster going into the playoffs.

As of late for the last few years. He's been on the wrong side of that line for quite some time now. "Flyer's Top Dman." There's a backhanded compliment if ever there was one.

Honestly, as a replacement for Strait? Sure, maybe last year. It'd have been a lateral move at best, maybe a step up with the experience he brings. But after sitting an entire season for blood clots in his lungs, bringing him onto a speed team isn't going to end well.

Timmonen is actually quite good, if he returns to last year's form.

He is far, far, far superior to Brian Strait and comes with no commitment. WHy not?

Carolina would retain "a significant portion" of Semin's cap hit according to sources.

Love these teams that knowingly took on huge risks with players that were known to have issues, yet silk give them disastrous contracts, only later being back to square one with player and now wanting to divest itself of the contract. Welcome to the new NHL - trading bad contract for bad contract anyway one can. Maybe, just maybe, these hockey geniuses can refrain from giving out idiotic contracts to players that should be on 1/2yr deals max so they can always walk away.
These players are NOT difference makers enough to warrant such contracts and they willingly offer and agree to them.

Zuc with JT would be nasty, he is a good player. Trade between them would never happen though, but if he made it to UFA I'd jump.

I like Zuc too.

Strange that the Rangers would trade him at the deadline if they think they have a shot at the cup. It would weaken them significantly.

Probably could have got Gleason for Strait and a 4th round pick, if the caps got him for Hillen and a 4th. Not saying Gleason is good, but he has size and is physical, would have been good alongside Lubo instead of Hickey.

Mata Zuccarello would be a good piece, but despite his drive/hustle/energy he would not be a solution to our whole size issue up front. I call that a priority for this club if they were to make any changes in the top 6.

Even so, why would the Rangers trade with us when it is possible for our clubs to meet in the playoffs? You don't try to improve a club who you may be competing with shortly, unless it was a gross overpayment. Snow isn't going to grossly overpay and help a division rival.

98% - Nothing to see here.

2% - Door #2

I'd honeslty rather have Strait than Gleason. Also, I hope the Rangers trade Zuccarello.

Names like Kucherov, Marleau, Thornton, Sharp, etc being throw out there.

I've been leaning very conservatively towards this whole deadline, but man, I'd go crazy if we added top line winger and then locked up Boychuk.

Due to playoff failures, I have never been a huge fan of his... but Thornton on this Isles team would be tremendous. Good size, terrific face-off ability. He wouldn't have to feel the pressure of having to be "The Man." Could just go about his business being a top quality number two. With that said, I wouldn't want to part with the assets that would be necessary.
