Being Pedantic... it's pretty impossible to pull off a bigger move than drafting first overall, and a consensus future star in McKenna.

Would trading Carlo be a bigger deal than adding McKenna... I think not.

You run out of options the more you go into the offseason.

Getting a Carlo or Rielly deal before free agency would be very important.

If we are dealing either for picks to then use for upgrade pieces it would be on draft night, otherwise I dont think 2027 picks would have enough value to help make additions for this coming season.

Mckenna is great, but we need to make the playoffs otherwise we are at risk of losing Matthews/entering a rebuild.

Big additions are needed to fix the team and get us to contention status

I should have put if Mckenna is the biggest addition of the summer, I will be disappointed.

If we are not dealing Knies, then we need big upgrades some other way.

Lets not forget Robo got shafted on his second contract by Dallas and had to just accept it. Now he has all the power and its honestly tough shit for Nill.

Also, Seattle is arguably the place I'd want to commit long term to the least in the entire NHL besides maybe like 2/3 other Canadian cities i won't name. Good for you Robo.

Had a discussion today at work..

For me Knies is a good player but he is not a superstar.. I think this year will be his around his average year maybe getting up to 80 pts. He hits but I would not call him a physical player and he rarely stands up for his teammates. I think he has the ability to be a dominant physical player but I do not think that is the way he wants to play.(I am not shitting on him, I think he is a really good player.

That being said.. I heard on Kyper and Bourne toady that Sammy would trade him for 2 years of Werenski which i think is crazy.

Montreals offer at the deadline was two first-round picks, Alexander Zharovsky, and Bryce Pickford

So What would it take to get Knies out of the Leafs hands for you.

For me-

San Jose - Pick 2 plus Filip Bystedt - Toronto Picks Chase Reid
San Jose - Pick 9, Pick 27 plus Sam Dickenson - Toronto Picks Ivar Stenberg or Caleb Malhotra
Vancouver- Pick 3 - I don't think Van would trade for Knies
Buffalo - Pick 4, 1st next year, plus Konsta Helenius and Radim Mrtka - Toronto Picks Stenberg/Carels I would not hate Verhoff or Rudolph.
I dont think 5-8 are going to trade for him
Anything after Pick 9 I think it needs to be like the Montreal deal but instead of the 2 prospects it would need to be Hage and Reinbacher.


The good thing here is unless they completely botch the trade they are in a no lose situation.
