A decent GM should be able to get assets for NHL defensemen

All three players can be upgraded on but they can also be useful next year, so no reason to just take a weak return - it will also be a bit of a balancing act with who we can get to replace them.

Carlo in particular at 3.4M is not dire as a 3RD that can fill in for Tanev if he misses games.

I feel like Cowan for example could pretty easily flip to the right side.

It's also that our furthest future is concentrated today in three wingers (all LS) and we're not rebuilding in the near term. They might want to wait until next offseason to recalibrate things though.

I feel bad for the Kraken. It'll be hard for them to get a star player. They really need to just go all in on youth, or trade for young budding stars. Easier said than done, but dumping good assets for guys like Samoskevich isn't gonna help that.

Every year it's the same thing. Every. Single. Year. Teams LOVE X Y Z player, they wanna move into X range. I wonder about Y team moving Z pick... they are getting calls!

First time in 18 years a top 5 pick has been traded. Don't expect them to do it. It's just pure clickbait.

To be fair, this year has been exceptionally unique. On top of the 4OA being moved, the 9OA has been moved twice, a 22YO 2OA, 25YO 4OA, 26YO 4OA and 23YO 7OA. We don't typically see these kind of moves all at once and I'm pretty confident that this trend with continue through tomorrow.

This is why Knies is so valuable. He's obviously not as good as Robertson right now but he's got that potential to get to that level of good to some degree, and you don't have to worry about trade protection or contract extensions for awhile.

If Seattle wants to make a splash, they have some serious assets to make the Leafs listen I think. Whether they do or not, I don't know.

Fair honestly. A ton of cap space and no free agents probably made a lot of teams a lot more willing to go for it, both those things have been rough since the flat cap covid years.
