GDT: Trade and Free agent Rumours thread | Chayka off-season edition

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I don’t understand why Knies is in talks. Are we afraid of his injury. He’s young and on a great deal.

You make moves if they can improve your team now or in the future... seems like a no-brainer to try to get some good value out of him based on the moves happening around the league.

Apparently, the Knies deal being discussed is with Buffalo, surrounding the 4th overall Pick, according to DaMaico

Rather have the Sharks #2 & #9. Gives the leafs Stenberg and a D (one of Daxon Rudolph (RD), Alberts Smits (LD), Malte Gustafsson (LD), Ryan Lin (RD)).

Also out of sight, out of mind in the west. Not in your face playing for the Sabres.

It could be that but also alot of the analytics crowd think Knies is overrated.
His xgf/a was the 2nd-worst one on the team behind Benoit this year. However, it was the 2nd best behind Marner the year before.

You decide which one it is? Injuries are also a factor.

I have a theory that Sundin wants Bjork. I think that would be the move
He was seen seated with his Dad at the worlds, and plays at his old club, Djurgården.

So there could be something to it.

I see both sides to this debate just saying it's pretty clear most of the people who are okay with moving Knies are the more analytical fans.

Like I said earlier, This is now not a Brad Treliving thing and for whatever reason they've decided as an organization moving Knies is the right move.

I understand dealing Knies, I absolutely do not understand dealing him for 4OA

We're apparently trying to win now, how do you win now trading for a pick that won't be at Knies level minimum for at least 2-3 years
It couldn’t be for just the pick. That just isn’t enough, unless we flipped the pick for something else we need.
