Lundell taking the next step would be huge or then and I can see him doing that.

Don't be surprised if Bobrovsky does return.

I think injuries, too many Tkachuk’s and goaltending will be Florida’s potential downfall next year.

I don’t see that group magically staying healthy all season when dumb Brady is going to draw them into more pushing and shoving, scrumming and trouble. They got some street justice and wear and tear next year and I would expect the blows to keep coming.

Because a player of his caliber, pedigree and importance to said team probably needs to return more than 2x1st round picks, one barely in the top 10. The other 1st round pick is 3 years from now, which is top 10 protected (Treliving couldn't even get ours to be top 10 protected for the Carlo debacle....)

They got the best they could, but doesn't change that it wasn't very good. I'd be livid if we got that for Knies, or Matthews for that matter. But it's better than nothing I guess.
It's also what it represents. It's yet another failed era in Ottawa. They aren't going to turn around trade these picks for Jason Robertson. They are going to use the 9th overall pick and get started on starting over...again.

The funny thing is it's really not all that difficult to see how 1-2 poorly timed injuries could derail their cup aspirations pretty quickly.

Brady himself is not the picture of health. The idiot brothers running around are going to receive their fair share of beatings. Barkov is going to be hurt at some point. Marchand is going to age out.

I’m not cheering against Ottawa in their issues with Brady Tkachuk. I think most teams have a potential Team USA empowerment and defection problem and Brady can’t succeed. I see Ottawa having more success if they can draw the circle of trust a little tighter and not have a distraction like Brady providing “leadership.”

I guess I'm just looking at Florida and they have their cups... so I really can't say much... but they're not really that far above the Leafs.... if at all now... I don't think anyway. Time will tell.

A lot depends on this summer.

Buffalo will be good. Montreal too. Tampa always seems to find a way. After that... its a battle. With some goaltending and a revamped d with a good powerplay. Leafs have a solid shot.

I think they'll go hard after J. Robertson. He played for Kingston in the OHL, which is pretty close to Ottawa and his SO is from Kingston I believe. There could be something there. Whether they do or not, I don't know.

Possible they pick 9th and still go after him, they got the assets.

We’re not competing next year. The Panthers just added a young captain for basically nothing after winning a Stanley cup a season ago. Their team is also packed with tough players and got even tougher. The Leafs stand no chance.

If I’m a division team with older players I’m looking at fully rebuilding and hoping the Panthers players age out.

To make it worse, we’re talking about trading the only player on the team who can play that style lol
I'm not afraid of the Panthers.

They are getting older.... I suspect Marchand will still be a rat but a much slower version, Rodent's got some miles on him. I also see suspensions and injuries for the ole' rate den. They seriously might have a year or 2 but gimme a fast team with high octane offence and they can be tamed. Especially since they don't have a goalie and right now have to hang ona' those tarps with 4 corners cutout to stop pucks... One or 2 guys with a strong right and some beef (Kniesy is one) would be helpful to remind them of father time and what's right...

Maybe this makes McDavid say F*** it, and he tells the Oilers he's not resigning and only wants to be traded to the Leafs lol
Offer the 1st overall, Knies, Danford, col 1st, and a player to be named later and see if edmonton will finally cut bait. Pretty decent haul to start the rebuild out there....

I have no doubt they will, but I also don't think it's a critical item. Florida is trying to fight Father Time, and I don't think they are going to win that battle.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tampa loaded up and they took their blood feud to the next level. Hagel is going to need someone to go hunt Tkachuk's with out there.

Nobody knows what a player truly intends. Sometimes it leaks, sometimes it doesn't. This has been ongoing for weeks. It was a real possibility within the Ottawa community (I live here).

If the Leafs get the same feelings about Matthews wanting out in some form or another, he'll be traded. Doesn't seem like it's at that point.
Brady also engaged in obvious anti-Canada posts, so he was very clearly trying to force the Sens’ hands. I didn’t care about anything he said. His actions made it very clear where his head was at. I’m not sure that the picks they’re getting will amount to anything. They basically donated him to the Panthers for free.

I don’t know anything about Mathews personally like most here, so I can’t comment but hope he wants to stay here. We’re not going to find another player like him for a very long time at the age we got him at. Tavares is really the only true star player who has signed here from another team while still in his peak.
