leaving the countries out of it:

It’s a no brainer people want to live and work in the sun and sand vs the snow and cold. Most people would pick this option 8/10

Minny was on the list, so that’s not entirely it. I remember when Demitra (RIP) left Minny to come here he said there’s literally f*** all to do there all winter but go to the mall.

Anyways, Seattle extends Mcmann for 6 years at almost 6 million. I genuinely have no idea on a macro level what this team is trying to accomplish. Even if one of their young guys breaks out into a star, they’re going to be stuck with a bunch of aging, middle 6 guys on the downslope of their careers.

Yeah. If you've ever lived in a place like Alberta (especially) or Ontario during the winter months, it can be genuinely depressingly grey as the snow doesn't go away for months and months. Snow sucks ass, and never having to deal with it is definitely a no brainer.

Does this even have anything to do with Brady being American? I'd imagine it has more to do with him playing with his brother and playing in Florida specifically, as most players in the league regardless of nationality want to play there, it seems. I know he's a Trump guy, but, at least to me, he seemed to try his ass off to win for the Sens.

Regardless, if this causes the Canucks FO to refuse to draft Americans, you have to think Carels is the obvious choice due to the Malhotra factor if Stenberg is off the board.

Often reported that some in the Canucks (Harvey I think it's been said) are high Verhoff.

I'd rather take Verhoeff over Reid.

One played in the NCAA as a 17 year old and put up solid numbers. He is higher risk, higher reward than any player in this draft. If he hits, he's a slam dunk 30 minute #1 defenceman, who is also massive.

The other put up respectable but unspectacular numbers in a weaker OHL and carries a high flight risk compared to every other top prospect in this draft.

I like it for Ott depending on what they do. If they use them as picks, it’s pretty ugly. Even in amazing drafts with multiple firsts, it’s easy to miss (cough* Boston). If they can use them in other trades then it could be really good.
Nmc for Brady. Massive factor.
Pick 9 so looking at any of Rudolph, Lawrence, Henming, belchetz, etc.

So basically Ott said no to Mackie S so Fla moved him for assets to use in the trade.

Surprised Ott gave top 10 protection.

Do you really see it as an American thing? Or a good player wanting to play for a good team and with his brother?

Was Cutter Gauthier because of nationality?
I think in general Americans tend to grow up with a more mercenary mentality. The individual is more important than the collective (ie team) and I’m a bit over it. The drama of it all is just not worth it. Please no to Reid and if Buium increases his value in the next couple of years, trade him before he can dictate where he goes.

...whispers from who because literally anyone who's opinion carries weight up until this point has had the Canucks taking Caleb at 3.

I think Cam Robinson said it, and someone on Dahli and Donnie on Friday and that’s just memory. I am sure if I checked Vectors Skeet’s I could find more.

The Tkachuk brothers have torpedoed two Canadian franchises as they entered their contention/competitive window. It's disgusting.
Calgary wasn't really in a good spot, especially with Gaudreau also leaving the team.

Even if the two of them stayed they'd be about where Seattle is at right now, IMO. An 7-10th place team.

The other big thing is that Hockey Canada since about 2010 has taken a massive step back in talent development while the American programs have taken huge strides forward. We're likely going to be seeing a reckoning in the next 6-8 years.

Lmao you got evidence of that besides PLD or are we just riffing?

Having VGK and FLA duking it out in the finals will be pretty fun to watch. Both teams are doing their darnest to stack up as much power as possible, while collecting hatred from different fans like Pokemons.

If you're bad, you'll just be laughed at (case n point: VAN); and if you're good, you'll for sure be hated.
