I have absolutely no idea. Trade proposals aren't my thing, but I have a sneaking suspicion we are not going to see the Leafs start the season with Stolarz and Hildeby. That tandem doesn't scream "win now" to me. I think we might see significant goalie acquisition.Interesting…for?
I completely agree, which is why I am questioning whether the moves are a Chyka “win now” direction.I have absolutely no idea. I can see trading Knies for a young NHL defenseman, but I don't see him trading him for a top 10 pick and prospect package. This team has a 4-5 year window to win a Cup with Matthews and Nylander (and likely McDavid in a couple of years). I don't think Chayka or Rogers will want draft picks as the central piece in a trade for Knies. They need an immediate impact defenseman so that Raddysh becomes support rather than the central focus on defense.I completely agree, which is why I am questioning whether the moves are a Chyka “win now” direction.
This why I still believe Knies goes.
I think he’s building for a year or two out with an eye to get Matthews to resign and make us a destination for some strong FA classes coming soon.
I would have to agree. One goalie to keep an eye out for is Filip Gustavsson. You're probably looking at Stolarz + Colorado 1st Round Pick + RobertsonI have absolutely no idea. I'll play I'll play!!!!Most shocking move Chayka could do that you think is actually possible?

I think that is where we as fans need to look harder at.I can see trading Knies for a young NHL defenseman, but I don't see him trading him for a top 10 pick and prospect package. It appears that he's trying to make the team younger while not compromising on NHL experience (Woll to Hildeby; Benoit to Andrae; subtracting any of the holdovers on the blueline for Raddysh won't really make that area of the team any older since Raddysh and Carlo share a birth year). I'm hoping one eye is on the present with the other on the future (not aimlessly dealing away any and all futures of worth to go all-in now).I think that is where we as fans need to look harder at.
Does Chyka strike you as a guy who legit is trying to do 1 year retool?
Or
A guy who believes in building the right way, with cap disciple and built from the back out. Most analytics would support a futures heavy deal for Knies.
i'm gonna play your game Trick. Everyone I pick i have available in my mind for even the most random reason.Either/or.![]()

Knies smokescreen, trading Nylander instead, to Capitals, Nylander + Carlo + Robertson + 3rd for Feherhary + Dubois + Parascak + 18th pick..Most shocking move Chayka could do that you think is actually possible?
Agreed! I feel your futuristic vibe.I know most possibilities have been explored in this thread from reasonable to wild... but I think we are going to see some things completely out of left field that nobody expected. Chayka is not afraid to deal, whether for better or worse, and there are countless ways to reshape while respecting the cap. The fact a few pundits now have said the Leafs will be very active is both refreshing and terrifying. Feels like it's gonna be an interesting ride in these forums this year folks, my gut thinks so anyway.
This might be the worst value trade for Nylander ive ever seen. Why would you do that for even Nylander aloneKnies smokescreen, trading Nylander instead, to Capitals, Nylander + Carlo + Robertson + 3rd for Feherhary + Dubois + Parascak + 18th pick..
I think he has a mandate from Rogers to win now. I think he cleared space in the Woll, and probably will do again by trading Rielly, because he wants to use the cap space to spend big now. Maybe hellebuck. Maybe Tuch. I think this team is going to look completely different come September, and they will be going for a Cup this year.I think that is where we as fans need to look harder at.

I think he meant AHL champion Alex NylanderThis might be the worst value trade for Nylander ive ever seen. Why would you do that for even Nylander alone
Someone already said Connor Hellebuck. Most shocking move Chayka could do that you think is actually possible?
I wouldn’t do it but it’s mighty tempting I think we could win it allI'll play I'll play!!!!
To Minnesota - Knies (7.75) Reilly (7.5) Ben Danford (936, EL)
To Toronto (sign and trade) - Quinn Hughes - 8 X 14
Hughes has said he likes Minny and may want to stay, may also want to play with his brothers in NJ I get it. Could he be convinced to sign here long term and play with his Olympic Gold captain at a LARGE contract?? Ask the wild if he's gonna resign if not they have to explore it.
Leafs - Get an exceptional top pair D long term, although at a high cap hit. Lose a great prospect and a very very good power winger.
Wild - Get a very good potential future captain material bruising winger signed long term, A D in Reilly that they don't fall off alot immediately, and a possible future young stalwart D in their top 4. I might also ask for another later pick like a 3rd or 4th just to trade some futures. Caps are almost a wash but very different for both teams and creates another hole for the Leafs.
You said shocking I can dream with the best'of'em

Carlo and Robertson should get it done. With baby brother going to Dallas big brother signs a sweetheart deal to help out Dallas and we get Harley. Win-win for both teamsWe really need to get that top pair young LD with size who can skate and move the puck. Thomas Harley fits the bill, Dallas needs the cap space...Whats it gonna take.
I do wonder if some package like Mccabe + Danford + 1st + 2nd could get it done...Probably not, they would probably demand Cowan or Knies. Id have to consider it because his age and profile fits perfectly and we have an abundance of wingers
