Sens fan (coming in peace, yada yada).

Our board was discussing Marner. Just curious, what would you realistically expect coming back in a deal from our squad? His cap hit is less of a concern for us since it's not clear we're ever going to spend to the cap anyways. There's possibly a win-win trade there.
I thought the time to move Marner to your team was before the draft when you guys had a trillion picks.
I saw lots of opportunities then.

I’d be OK with that, but he hasn’t hit his stride yet either. He was pretty engaged last night. He’ll get some breaks soon if he keeps playing like that.

That's fair. I'm not the biggest Ritchie fan but I agree he deserves a shot at hitting his stride. I liked his game in pre-season but just seems out of it lately.

I wouldn't move Holl. In a full 82 game season a lot of teams see a clear 7th D play ~40 games. If it's less than they're likely either obscenely healthy, or don't have a clear 7 and spread those injury games around.

Plus come deadline time we'd be spending whatever we got back in a Holl trade to shore up our D depth anyway.

Ya the only way im dealing Holl midseason is if we somehow aquired another 7th D mid season before hes dealt.

Well said. There’s 492 games for 6 defencemen. A good 7th guy will get his share. They can rotate in and out.
His contract at 2mil next season is still probably excellent value.
So, maybe if he were flipped for a depth D plus a viable prospect or a good pick/two, then maybe it makes sense.

I like how you think "spam holl trades" equals trade him stupidly.

I was just saying hey guys Holl is on the outside looking in, post your ideas about potential trades. Would these trades not then take into account what makes sense for the team??:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

they only move that would make sence is trading holl for a dman making near league min somewhere...... to save about1.3 mil on the cap
it is truly the only option

Having the internal competition is pretty nice. Holl wasn't feeling it and we were able to rotate someone more on their game. A pretty key luxury for us. We can avoid our D playing hurt as frequently with an extra body. As sick as McCann seems to be, we don't need goals as badly as we need to continue to defend. We have plenty invested in goal scoring.

I am so happy to see Sandin and Lilly playing well. I can't tell you how satisfying it is after having so many frustrating interactions with fans shitting on them both calling them busts for not already being top-4 D at their ages.

Yep. A lot of my friends turned on Lilly as well. I remember his draft year he was penciled into 2nd overall for a period of time. Glad he's in the lineup, we desperately need some of our draft picks to hit

Yes, desperately. In fact other than Dermott we haven't had a non-1st round defensive prospect develop into an NHL regular in a long time (that I can recall). I would imagine that with Sandin and Lilly graduating, our prospect pool led by the likes of Amirov, Robertson, and SDA is probably what - bottom 5 or 10 in the league?

I would like to introduce you to this guy, who just happens to be on the verge of a historic season, and may very well be our #1 prospect right now.

Yes well aware - he'd be what our #2 or #3 prospect? Likely the first D prospect drafted outside the 1st round to ascend into the top-3 in what -- 10 years? I think you have to go back to Stralman to find evidence of legit top-5 system prospect ranking of a non-1st round defenseman.

Any chance of re-aquiring Grundstrom? Maybe something around Holl or Mikheyev. Somebody mentioned LA as a possible spot for Holl. I can't see Mikheyev re-signing here. I'd rather keep Holl for now and move him in the off season.

I don't trust Kyper but he said Contract talks have started with Campbell, and Jack didn't deny it either.
Thats a positive
