I have no faith in either of them, Ritchie doesn't score enough and he never has and Mrazek has always been injury prone
What an amazing turn of events they are still exactly that
So let's just get this straight, we move Kerfoot who's currently playing very well in our top 6 and fairly paid and can cover center in case of injury because our GM screwed up so badly we have 6M in bad contracts we cant move without assets attached to them and desperately need the cap space to fit Rielly and Campbell?
**** me, if this is correct the ineptitude is something else
There is more to it than just market price too.
Moving Ritchie won't save us enough cap space regardless. I think Ritchie will turn it around, and he could be sold for a great return, but we'd still need to find more cap space unless we can somehow save the 1 mill difference in cap between him and Kerfoot in another way.
If you move Mrazek, you are still paying a similar or greater price to find a guy who can chew up 40 games at his usual standard of play, and we will want a guy who can do that. If we cut 1-1.5 mill from his cap hit, we may get a great 2A, but that guy probably can't play more than 25-30 games. Campbell's career high in the NHL is 31 games, and he has been injured in the past... We need someone who can be more than just a 2A.
Moving Kerfoot saves us enough cap space and we can turn to a guy like Robertson to replace him a lot easier than we can turn to a guy like Woll to replace Mrazek. Or even in UFA, there are a lot more middle 6 players available for a cap hit around Ritchie's (and then you replace Ritchie with a guy like Robertson) than legit 1B's who will cost less than Mrazek.
