Unfortunately the Bruins are still the Bruins, so they'll find a way.
Dunno Berg and Marchand are 36 and 33 and now they gotta come up with a second line center that's tough and it's a full 82 games this time.

Krejci not returning to Bruins this year - going to play in the Czech league. Boston gets noticeably weaker with this.

That's pretty big news.

If Bergeron starts showing his age, which 95% of the players from the 2003 draft have done, and if Ulmark isnt the real deal, then they could potentially slide down quite a bit.

Taylor Hall's luck is going to strike, they'll miss the playoffs, and win the draft lottery.

I'm starting to think the way to go is to grab a couple of players with that 3.5 million dollars instead of going all out for one.
I don't think there is any UFA left worth 3.5... or they go the trade route.

Ritchie at 2x 1.5m per would be a great add, then wait it out for another unisgned player looking for a contract.

We got some flexibility on LW if Bunting/Ritchie struggle (Kerfoot, Robertson to LW).

Matthews is paid fairly, Marner is overpaid.

You can speculate all you want, but it doesn't mean you are right.

It is just as likely that they take a discount as they don't.

Public knowledge would lead me to believe that at the very least Marner was probably not happy with Babcock, could that have lead to salary demands?

Could the priorities of someone in their early 20's vs someone in their late 20's change?

Putting a blanket statement on a player's personality without any context is kind of crazy to me, but, speculate away.
What am I missing? You speculated that maybe the dynamic duo would take discounts and I feel the opposite of that, so.....your speculation is more valid than mine?

I am not speculating, I am just pointing out that the other side is just as true, just getting super tired of everyone writing fan fiction as fact, it is so tiresome in this forum now.
The team potentially got better this year and people are acting like it is time to rebuild.
People saying Rielly will walk, Marner will walk, Matthews will walk, all our prospects will fail, everyone is stating wild opinions that have very little to no basis in fact.

You should let the Boston fans know - they seem to be under the impression that they just lost a very good 2nd line centre who always delivered in the playoffs.

The dude is 35, they have just enough old players. They will probably get Dvorak who is much younger and will have a nice contract as well.

Definitely possible, but Dvorak is a near-term downgrade on Krej. Also we saw what kind of returns Phoenix gets on desperate GMs, so Boston can expect to pay through the nose for him.

Now if Boston can pull of Eichel, that's a different story. But I don't see Buffalo dealing him to a division rival.
