I’m just sick of refreshing this page every two minutes for no trades. Can’t wait until it’s over so I can stop feeling like a freaking degenerate

same. i cant wait until tomorrow. no more speculation, just enjoying the end of the season and playoffs.

Possibly, but I don't know if Vatanen has ever played the left side.

Really hope the Leafs aren't one of the teams willing to pay a 1st for Foligno. That seems like an overpayment for a player that seems to be a bit overrated here.

I'll trust the management staff if that's what they do, they've earned that, but I don't see that as a smart use of assets.

you have to think though, with our rumored interest and "multiple teams offering 1sts", we have to be one of them.

not saying i like it, but have a hard time seeing us not be in.

I was thinking I might pay the first if we strike out on all our other options and Cbus pay the assets required for double retention from another team.
Even then I wouldn’t love it. Would rather have had Palmeri and Zajac for the same price.

Trade Deadline = one of my least favourite time of the year for NHL. The soap opera tinge of the sport comes full front, I prefer watching the games.

That said I have no problem with trades and understand the injected plastic titillation of it though hoping for a trade just for the thrill of it is something I'm way over.

Sure hope not, he’s cooked and totally not what this team needs. Get a viable top 6 forward that can let everyone slide down one peg. Foligno doesn’t do that at all

i was totally wrong about teams trading 1sts for rentals. maybe this year being a weird draft hurts their value. because i thought teams were done with that.

Totally agree, I used to live for trades (or transfers at the English football deadline).

Now i just hope to see my team make good decisions and be so well organised their business is done well in advance, so poor last-minute rush decisions aren't made that you regret in a years time.

I like Foligno. I don’t know if I like him enough to surrender a first round pick. Not because I don’t want the team to improve in the playoffs, but I’m not sure if he moves the needle far enough.

Agreed. I don't see how you reconcile the trade values this season of Devon Toews (two 2nds for a way better/younger player), Eric Staal (3rd + 5th for a similar calibre older player), Palmieri and Zajac for a 1st (two players who individually are both better than Foligno traded together for a 1st), etc, with Foligno getting a 1st by himself, even if salary is retained.

IMO for him to get a 1st, there should be significant salary retention, and a 2nd rounder coming back the other way.
