I don't think Tkachuk is going anywhere. More just GMs checking in.

Hed be the exact type of forward I think Leafs need and he's buddies with Matthews but I think it's a pipe dream.

Leafs have been missing that shit disturber for a long time. Bunting can be/is that guy... obviously not as skilled but that type of role for Toronto which he seems to be so far.

Thinking of Calgary still... Johnny hockey may leave though. I see the appeal to go home... but if it was me and I was on arguably the best line in hockey I'd think to sign long term. They're all pretty young. Calgary has a solid team. It'll be interesting to see if it's all BS or something to it.

Is Minnesota the kind of place where people are begging to stay? Tampa could use him on their bottom pair in exchange for Phillipe Myers and Minnesota could buyout Myers and save ~2.9M this year.

Addison is someone that has frustrated them apparently by not taking the next step. A team with not much at RD at present or future may have player of their own that frustrates them.

I could still see them moving on from Kulikov if Fleury is willing to return and wants 5M. I am skeptical he would ask for more than 4 though.

Even if he doesn't have a specific destination in mind, you're getting in a bidding war for his next contract even if you trade for him early. Best case you can shave 250k off the AAV for giving him 8 instead of 7 years.
 


I suppose that's possible. It does make some sense.

I just think being basically the top line last year and a solid team... seems a bit nutty to leave that but going home... or money talks.

Marner for Tkachuk straight up. I’d do it. Sign Tkachuk to an 8 year, 10 million per contract.

Just a little joke re all the Matthews to Arizona speculation. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Blues weren’t Matt’s plan all along. I thought Brady was likely headed there too but he signed long term in Ottawa so who knows?
 
Tying all of these Flames rumors back to the Leafs - Mangiapane would be perfect on Tavares' wing. IF the Flames could retain Tkachuk/Gaudreau he's most likely gone.

A Nylander + for Tkachuk trade or a Tkachuk + for Marner trade will still result in a 1st round exit

The problem on the team isn't 88 or 16. It's the 11M man if we're discussing core players.

His playoff production drops heavily and we can't afford that from our 2nd highest paid player.

Unless it was somehow Tkachuk for Jt and then we play 88 at 2C I don't want to make that type of move

yep love that about Minnesota even the old Vikings player are treated with pure class when they come U.S bank Stadium..... and its any player that put the time in for the team

This is the more realistic fallout of what could happen in Calgary and what I'd try to pounce on.

Hopefully sign him to something like the Garland contract (around 5×5)
