The Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators appear to be talking, and a few players of interest are forwards Josh Anderson and Christian Dvorak.

An NHL source has confirmed to Montreal Hockey Now that the Ottawa Senators have been open to trading their 1st round pick since about the midway point in the season. The sources have confirmed that the Senators are looking for an impact roster player that will help round out their forward ranks and provide experience to a very young core, and two Canadiens players are in their sights.

The source has also confirmed that the Canadiens and the Senators are in talks and that Josh Anderson is a player that is highly coveted by the Senators at this time.
With the Senators looking to bolster their top-6 and add some scoring punch and physical play; inserting a player like Anderson would go a long way in achieving that vision. The Senators’ brass got a firsthand view of what a player like Anderson could do at the World Championships this past spring and the Stanley Cup Finals in 2021 and would like to add that kind of player if they were to move the 7th overall in any package.

It also appears that Christian Dvorak has received some notable interest from the Senators as well, as the source indicates to Montreal Hockey now that the Senators’ pro scouts loved what they saw from Dvorak in the second half of the season.

With the 7th overall in play and the Montreal Canadiens doing everything they can to jump into the top-10 to snag another top prospect in the 2022 NHL Draft, this will be something to keep an eye on for the next 24 hours. It would be shocking to see a deal for the 7th overall pick be a one-for-one trade of assets, but it is seemingly looking like it would be the base of a trade package between both clubs at this junction.

That habs and sens trade might be pretty damn wild! I want some blockbuster hockey news. Getting bored waiting for something to happen.
Good lord, beyond terrible for Ottawa, Anderson always looks great against the leafs but is at best a bottom 6 winger. Overpaid by 2-3 million per.A one trick pony, next pass he completes over 10ft will be his first. Dvorak is meh. Not great skater and at 4.5 no better than a #3 centre for the Sens. Take 10 mil off the Habs payroll and give them 7 overall? I suspect a good old fashion media story planting is at work on this one,

Usually the week leading to the draft has a ton of trades...quiet AF right now.

Is tomorrow prior to the draft when the dynamite goes boom or what?

I believe Weekes says he calls him Manderson because he is a monster (when he plays the Leafs for sure).

Boring NHL is boring. Hard cap that doesn't rise will do that. There will be some activity tomorrow for sure, there always is, but doesn't seem like it will be a lot.

Am I misremembering last season prior to the draft?? Wasn't it busier?

Rumors going around the Calgary Tkachuk might be available, man he would be such a great addition, the kind of player you hate to play against but enjoy on your team like a Marchand.

I wonder if it's at all possible, something like Nylander + Sandin + 1st maybe? Or Nylander + Sandin + 2nd + Niemela?

Would just be a great addition but it would not be cheap.

I wouldnt mind having him on my team with a reasonable contract. He does have that one trick, drop the shoulder anddrive the net and some after the whistle scrum value that the Leafs could use. every time I watched the Habs after MSL took over Anderson and Caufield were taking turns hanging around centre ice waiting for breakaway passes, stat padding.
Gorton and Hughes wouldn’t be shopping him so hard and overtly if he was a true power forward, worth 5.5.

It would have to be Marner going the other way, due to what his salary will likely be. No chance we could fit in FOUR $10 mil plus contracts. I'm not sure Tkachuk for Marner helps us, as much as Tkachuk brings a needed element.

It's insane the Ducks have almost 35-40M in cap space with only Milano and Lundestrom to really re-sign of note.

I’m sure they’ll be taking on some cap dumps for picks and prospects unless they think they’re ready to compete now.
