The Muzzin trade worked good for us and honestly so did the Campbell trade. Of all the players traded I think Moore would fit on this current team best. I had the highest hopes for Grundstrom of the three and I think he’s been the worst of the 3.

I imagine these days that would be deemed cap circumvention.

If Spezza wants to play, he’ll likely need to formally leave his management position with us prior to signing a standard player agreement.

That being said, a guy like Chris Pronger was technically signed to a standard player agreement while also being on an NHL management team

So if a player isn't under contract, they could sign him to a management position, pay his signing bonus for the off season, and then sign them to a players' contract prior to training camp if he resigned his position.

From a Leafs perspective, I think it's a lot more than fair. It's probably the only trade I see making sense for Puljujarvi from the Leafs

Puljujarvi would an interesting RW on the 3rd line behind Nylander and Marner. Kampf, Engvall and Puljujarvi seems like an insane line.

As others have posted, the Leafs aren't trading for Puljujarvi, a player seeking a huge raise. It's bargain hunting summer 2022.

He had a good 54 game stretch. I don't think that gets 5-6M. I think he'll have to settle for 3-4M. Maybe, 4.5M if a team decides to get silly.

Silly is the key word during the summer UFA signing season.

All it takes is one GM.

I hope it’s not ours in this case, but I’m happy for MM and his perfect storm of a season.

That's the only way I'd have interest in trading him. Either for a centre prospect or a young top 9C whose roster ready

I’d also consider a strong G prospect, or maybe a different type D a bit behind in development.

Or do you assume the talent upgrade is so great that they should be able to make it work?

For Chychrun at 50% that’s fair value. Weather I’d do it or not is another question.

@50 percent, he would be worth more. Considering you are offering only a 1st , and sandin and only a B prospect which would be for full value. Considering what Arizona is asking for him at full price.

I'd take pretty much all of those other players over Engvall. IF they're truly concerned, maybe best walk away or qualify and trade rights etc.

Can't walk away from an award low enough (we had this issue with Cody Ceci a few years ago), and you can't trade a player after arbitration. The act of offering a QO guarantees the players are back next year; the only question is, for how much?

We can’t fit anyone above average unless we clear cap. If we stick with Mrazek are only options seem to be Holl and Kerfoot to clear space. I’m thinking we are going to see some low cost signings and one of Holl and Kerfoot traded and that’s all.

That deal you do every day of the week. It however means Muzzin is getting moved out, which I'm not sure is in the cards, for better or worse.

I think he'd make a pretty good second liner with Nylander and Tavares, maybe even being the C (part time/full time). It would take a lot of work, but I've got him in a lineup with a $5 mil contract. Maybe you could get him a bit cheaper, but I've made it work.
