It would certainly solve the lack of scoring issue we have had. I would look into it but not sure we can do it without some serious juggling.

You replied to my post that said we can't afford to add a 3rd line centre better than Kampf.

Kerftoot puts up more points as a complimentary winger. He's never been able to play centre in any kind of full time capacity.

If you want a line that might score more but is worse overall...
Kerfoot isn't the best off the draw. But he's defensively responsible and a big part of our PK. I don't see him at 3C as the same problem you do I suppose

This is how this roster would project - I also included the projected salaries for each player rather than the ones provided.

White had one good offensive season, his rookie season, where his primary line mates were Tkachuk and Stone. Since then, it's been all downhill. He doesn't PK, he's terrible at faceoffs, isn't big... I don't get the attraction to be honest, other than some people just remembering he had 40 points once, on the backs of his line mates.

He's actually pretty solid at both ends of the ice. He's a good skater as well. Injuries really slowed down his production. Only 25 years old and respectable production despite not playing a lot. There is no risk to signing him and only upside that he can bounce back.

The attraction is that he's still a very capable NHLer, he just wasn't worth 4M+ long-term.

I'd definitely take a shot if he was willing to come cheap.

Pierre getting 1.75-1.95M x2-3 years
Girioux I don't see going beyond 5M on a good team
Pool Party probably 2-2.75M depending on team
Kase not back
Gudbranson isn't going beyond 1.5M
Georgiev 2-3M so 2.43M works
Fleury...I think 3-4M depending on where he wants to be.

I'm all aboard the Fleury train now.
Me too. Have this gut feel that we get him....and I'm all for it. Read somewhere that Fleury has 4 teams in mind: Wild, Pens, Leafs, Avs. I'm not sure splitting time with Cam Talbot is exactly what Flower wants, and I'm not sure the Wild are willing to go 4 million range on what would be a tandem goalie for them....Penguins re-signed DeSmith today, so can't see them being players got Fleury now as Jarry is very clearly their starter....Avs I'm thinking will do what they can to bring back a guy that just won a cup as their starter, but who knows....and us, well we give him the opportunity to play 50 games on a competitive team, close to his hometown of Quebec. I like the way this is potentially lining up for us.

So DeSmith's agent didn't think there'd be any offers for him?

Are there that many goaltenders out there looking for work that he'd have his player sign for $1.8mm?
He has thus far been a career Penguin that IMO figures to remain a team's secondary option in net. I thought the AAV might have come in a bit higher, but...

I don't disagree with most of what you have there. Just sharing the projected contracts from EH.

I won't be surprised if Engvall gets in the mid 2s though.

The roster I replied to had Kase.

He's to weak physically to play C full time, and he's more of a complimentary offensive player than a catalyst. Put him in Kampf's role and I'm not sure he scores as much, let alone more.

If he's even on the roster next year, it's a mistake. We need different kinds of players, and his 3.5 million is needed to bring them in.

That would be doubling his salary. I would shop around before I gave him that kind of money.

If Pierre goes into 4 year range, I can see it but 2 year deal as an RFA, I feel okay projecting high 1's, he's been 13th forward and waived quite a bit prior to this year.

2 years 1.85M
3 years 1.85-2M
4 years 2-2.5M

He’s a jack of all trades but a master of none.

He would be excellent if he was a bit bigger and can be more physical but I agree I think moving him for a guy that brings some different elements would be helpful

It was reported in the last week (I believe Friedman) that the Leafs might not qualify him because they are concerned about his arb award. It's also not uncommon for a player to double their salary.

His comparables in the mid 2s would be:
Greenway
Foegele
Iafallo
Nichushkin

Completely agree he should be moved and his 3.5 used to build a different look around this team. But if he's a Leaf again next year...I didn't love him on 2LW. And obviously at 3LW he becomes pricey

Surprised Foegele is at 2.75m. Engvall is not near the player those other 3 are. I tread carefully for a butter soft nothing much burger.

I'd take pretty much all of those other players over Engvall. IF they're truly concerned, maybe best walk away or qualify and trade rights etc.

Iafallo signed that deal after a 33 point sophomore season (career high).

Nichushkin signed after he put 27 points in 65 games (best P/G in 7 years).

Greenway signed after scoring 28 points in 67 games (career high).

How many of those players would have taken over Engvall when they signed those deals?

6.4 m for 5 players and no number one goalie, they are in immediate cap trouble!!!!!!!
Not having a goalie is a problem, but we are in the position where we can get it, if needed. Holl, Mrazek, Kerfoot etc.

According to 32 thoughts pod, it’s down to Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Colorado and Toronto for Fleury.

Pitt just re-signed DeSmith, and Friedman went on to say that it looks like Kuemper is going to stay In Colorado.

Leaves TOR and MIN as two spots for him, let’s hope it’s us.

If Leafs could get rid of Petrs contract then Fleury is a good stop gap contract for a couple years and they can still go out and get another younger guy too.

Seems Leafs need to get rid of at least 2 if not 3 contracts to do some bigger moves. I'm hoping for that.

It's probably easier said then done but if this is Dubas last kick at the can his work on the goaltending especially but around the edges... 4th line... scoring winger... he has to consider some bigger moves.
