I think people suggesting a Blackwood/Fleury tandem do have Fleury as the 1B as an insurance policy to Blackwood.

The second Blackwood strings together 5-6 games Allan Walsh will be raising hell on Twitter. Fleury could be a needless distraction, I don't think he's worth the risk.

Fleury is just a name at this point. The guy implodes every year in the playoffs, no contending team should rely on MAF as a starter come playoff time. 1B backup type of thing, sure.
Since joining Vegas he has a .918 in 52 playoff games

He's an enigma and has moments of absolute catastrophe (e.g., that goal against MON last year) but overall he's solid

I don't know why more people don't know this about him. He was always being swapped out in the playoffs because he suddenly went cold. It's very similar to Jack in a way. He has those hot streaks that are burning hot and then cold as ice. I think we need something in the middle. Just stop the shots you should stop...that's it.

Lost his spot to Murray, Lehner and this year Talbot. Dude will be 38 also. Need a sure thing in goal, MAF is too erratic and unreliable imo.

TB GM being proactive with his team unlike Dubas.

Who has done more for his team .

Taveras or McDonagh include Muzzin as well.

It's a tough job being a GM but sometime you have to do some tough things.

TB makes the tough decisions we don't.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Here we are married to some players who have got us nowhere, yet TB who've been to 3 straight finals have no problem asking McDonagh to waive.

Fleury never lost his spot to Lehner in VGK. Fleury won a Vezina and played the bulk of the playoffs before Vegas pulled a galaxy brain and went with the other guy.

We need a new GM to get us to the Cup.
Make the tough decisions.

The Lightning see Ryan McDonagh on the decline and are ready to kick him to the curb having almost won 3x cups in a row so they can keep Paul and Palat. We see guys like Muzzin coming off massive concussion issues and see a guy who might regain his 2014 form.

Muzzin has been the Leafs best overall defenseman every year he's been in Toronto until last season.

I'm not opposed to trading him, I've suggested it before. But a phrase like "2014 form" is ridiculous.

Even though I don't want to trade willy I think we could still add a ufa to replace him partially and benefit from the futures we get.
To
Toronto
13th overall
Raty
Mayfield
Varlamov

To
Islanders
Nylander
Muzzin
2024 2nd

At 13th overall we could draft Mateychuk and we also get a really good center prospect in Raty, and Mayfield replaces Muzzins physical presence for 1.4 million. We also get Varlamov and we still have enough for a top 6 winger, and a back up goalie. We also have the ability to move Holl, and Kerfoot for more cap relief and picks and could also dump Mrazek. Our team would be the same or better now and much better in the future.

And Minny blamed Fleury for their inability to score 3 goals a game so they brought back Talbot to change the momentum but he was worse. MFs age is not going away though. Over 100gp and 22000 shots taken. so he is on the clock. FWIW Mike Smith, Luongo and Belfour all managed monster years at 38 but the slope gets pretty slippery after that I like him more than a return to Campbell as the price should be right and no outbound assets but only in a shared role like they hoped Mrazek could do. There are other solutions I would prefer but they would cost a lot more.

The islanders top needs are a top 4 ld to pair with Dobson and a top line Rw to pair with Barzal. Not only are you wrong, you were to lazy to give a reason for your position. Don't be intellectually lazy and defend your stance.

Flurey seems like a workable option if they can also find a way to get a younger guy with upside to be the backup/1b in the tandem
Yeah it would be nice to do a Freddy for Mrazek type player exchange except the Devils get the Mrazek. I kind of hate saying this because Jack was fine last season and in round 1 last year so I think he has got serious bounce back potential but I don't think the club can't take that risk in what might be a make or break year for the lineup as we know it. I just can't get my head around a big raise and term for the player Campbell was in 2022. If not for some strong games in April his 2022 results would have been as bad as Mrazek's 20 games or even a bit worse.

Yeah. The problem with Campbell is the disconnect between price and role. I'd absolutely bring him back to be part of a tandem, but don't want to pay him 5-6ish mil + term to do so. And not sure I trust him to be a true starter yet

Your giving the Islanders Nylander and Jake Muzzin who has to waive and nothing. Apparently you aren't getting it that Jake Muzzin won't waive . If you think that's the value of Muzzin and Nylander, you are joking yourself. Islanders aren't trading younger, current better d like Mayfield for Muzzin whose older, more injury prone and has to waive

Muzzin missed the elimination game 2-3 seasons in a row before this year so there’s not a lot of recent track record compared to recent cup winning McDonagh.

I think we made also better job with contract length, were not paying for those declining years like Tampa is going to with McDonagh.

Good luck getting him waiwe with that team and taxation. It won't be easy. We don't have contracts that we have to desperately trade away.

Which doesn't mean that we couldn't allocate our cap better by trading Tavares. It's also one way road once you decide to do that it's hard to turn back.

Will be interesting negotiations on Tampa with McDonagh. You immediately lose some credibility towards players when you negotiate lower cap number and then ask them to waiwe. They did it already with Johnson.
