He probably ends up on LTIR the rest of that contract
Which is strange because he was taking shots in practice and all of the sudden stopped.

And it’s not like Hogberg is close.

Maybe Lou is gearing up for a big add and needs cap space :sarcasm:

Did I miss a report on Hogberg? I was at the game and saw him go out but I haven’t heard anything definitive

When he signed that deal I knew this would be the outcome, no way he played for all 4 years.
Years were long to keep average salary down. Team was and is in a cap bind and wanted to keep a capable backup. Easy to look back now and kill the deal. I don’t remember Varlamov having any injury history. Plus who was gonna sign here for similar money at similar talent?

Plus he won us a lot of games the last two years that the AHL goalies wouldn't have

Imagine how we could've gotten an asset for him 2 seasons ago...And still had the same results we've been having.

Giving players in their mid-30s a four year contract is always great planning 😒. Feeling sorry for Varly though.

Brock Nelson - New York Islanders ...

Lou should have anticipated that he would get injured. Man!

And if he was really a good GM, he'd have pinpointed when within 3 days either side . . .
Lou is awesome.

A veritable genius among middling, simple minded GMs.

When his team’s veteran performance falters towards age expected metrics that’s just misfortune. And an older player getting injured? How could that happen? No way he could’ve seen that coming. ;)

What should happen:

- Nelson traded at deadline
- Palmieri traded at deadline
- Entertain Pageau offers but hold if it makes more sense to wait
- Listen on Dobson offers, ask is a clear upgrade up front, prob same age range as Dobson
- Listen on Barzal on player for player swaps, but unlikely anything happens due to his trade protection (only ten team trade list)
- Listen on Pelech (starting July 1 when NTC goes modified). Doubt he gets moved though

Sorokin has full NMC, Horvat, Pulock, Mayfield all have full NTCs. Prob not getting traded.
