I really like Balcers for a 3rd or 2nd line role. He was good offensively and defensively last year and hits more than anyone on the Leafs not named Simmonds/Clifford. He instantly replaces Milano as my #1 choice for middle 6 LW. I might even consider claiming him off waivers at 1.55M just to make sure we get him.

Seems like a good Mikheyev replacement in a way.

20 games played, 3 separate relatively significant injuries punctuated by 8 goals allowed to Arizona while playing injured. Ended the year with .906%, but if we don't count that last game, he would have ended with the same save % as Jack (who also played through injury btw).

Morgs considers this a very good season for Murray. Do you agree with that assessment?

I mean it depends. No goalie gets left in for 8 so to pretend like Campbell didn’t get pulled in games he couldn’t stop goals from behind his net.

If you look at the actual save percentages and high danger the numbers are severely in Murray’s favour over Campbell.

I don’t think it’s a great season.I don’t think it was a great trade.

I personally would have tried to take ok. MDZ and bury him and get the cap down.

But jack Campbell was horrific for the last half of the season. He is 2 years older and has a massive injury history.

Both had bad seasons. Murray has only 2 years left and hasn’t choked 5 straight elimination games.

I easily take Murray at 4.7 x 2 over 5 X 5 for Campbell. No question.

I just don’t see why it had to be 4.7 for Murray

Balcers got bought out by SJ. I'm a little shocked by that one. Not a great player or anything but for 1.55M, the production was more than fine. He's got good metrics as well.

Dubas has a lot of really good options right now.
This Murray trade has really soured me on Dubas. I see a statement like that and think “not that he’s going to utilize any of them” now

Kuokkonen was that Canes farmhand that seemed promising a few years ago, no?

Lots of interesting names out there that are potential good fits. The beauty of a top heavy roster, in my mind.

Like 9M lol

4-5 for perron

3-4M for marchment

Not possible for us

So when is the Malgin signing announced?
Probably my most despised trade.

Why did we need Malgin? How was he different than tymo and petan?

Why wasn't marchment given a larger sample size of games and a bigger role?

Just a strange move, specially when malgin wasn't even kept around. Let him go back to Swiss league

• Toronto will look for another goalie and try to sign Rasmus Sandin with their remaining cap room. One team indicated that even 1B or No. 2 goalies could still do very well in this market, so it won’t be as easy as it sounds. One potential depth target for the Maple Leafs: forechecker extraordinaire Zach Aston-Reese. They could also bring back Denis Malgin from Switzerland.

He was. Can't seemed to find his role. Not skilled enough for top 6, not grindy enough for bottom

As much as I think that trade was bad in hindsight, everyone needs to continue to be reminded that we would have lost him to waivers a week later for nothing. So we would have lost him anyway. Malgin is irrelevant. I suppose we could have received a pick instead of some washed up forward.

Friedman indicated they could be in on him again. Wouldn't surprise me at all

Why would we lose him to waivers? We could have scratched someone else no?

Clifford, Spezza for a few games, etc

Been a few years so not sure on the full details at the time surrounding marchment

ZAR and one of either Marchement/Perron is what I want forward-wise from Free agency.

We can fill out the rest with Marlies players. While also waiting for the inevitable Knies to enter the lineup later in the season.

He was literally the best defensive winger in the league last year. I am praying the Leafs get him and I honestly don't care if it's at 4M+.
