I doubt it unless Strome wants to take a serious paycut.
he made 3m last year? What if he agrees to that, or is it the Leafs can't afford 3m?

There are still more trades to come. My feeling is that they are still going to off load money somewhere, somehow!

Arizona also has a ton of space and a desperate need for any goalie.

He's got really 2 options when it comes to signing. Take a little bit less and go to a team where it will make your numbers look good. Or 2, go to a terrible team and get paid. Arizona is going to be terrible for another couple years.

Oskar Lindblom is being bought out by Flyers. He's a decent two way LW, with some size, mediocre skating. If he would sign to a $1 mil contract or less, perhaps worth looking at.

He's just not the kind of player they'll target for that money. 3M is most of their available cap. He's solid offensively, but he's not a good skater and doesn't have any semblance of a defensive or board battling game.

If he signs a cheapish 1 year deal, the Leafs could use him and what not, but I'd be shocked if he did.

There simply aren't a lot of choices. I mean you can add Gudas to the list of people who fit the bill, but Florida wouldn't trade him. Hakanpaa as well. Schneider (ouch).

I think Liljegren will be a top 4 guy this year...

Florida has a surplus, kinda.

I can potentially see Strome signing a 1 year cheapish deal to boost his reputation. The Leafs media spotlight can do wonders for that...

Would be okay trying him out potentially on the Leafs 2nd line if the aav was right

Maybe. I might be wrong. I would just target faster and more competitive players. I think the Leafs can target lesser known commodities that would bring the same level of skill.

You don't want Strome and JT together at 5v5, any line with average to above average speed and good hockey IQ will exploit the hell out of them.

If we sign Strome, it would probably be to provide some secondary scoring from the third line and on the PP.

Obviously they must have Kuemper locked down, but Washington not qualifying Samsonov seems nuts. Hard to believe they couldn't have gotten a pick for his rights.

That's fair - and I think a good case can be made for that direction.

But another potential positive for Strome is his ability to play centre.

Weegar would be great, but I don't see them moving him, and the cost would be pretty high for a guy one year out from UFA. Then, how do we afford to extend him? Though really, perhaps trading for him, makes it possible to eventually move on from Muzzin. Weegar is a guy I've wanted for several years now. Now Florida, that's a team with Cap issues.

Again that is exactly Murray’s sv outside of the last game where they left him in for 8 when he was hurt.

20 games played, 3 separate relatively significant injuries punctuated by 8 goals allowed to Arizona while playing injured. Ended the year with .906%, but if we don't count that last game, he would have ended with the same save % as Jack (who also played through injury btw).

Morgs considers this a very good season for Murray. Do you agree with that assessment?

Balcers got bought out by SJ. I'm a little shocked by that one. Not a great player or anything but for 1.55M, the production was more than fine. He's got good metrics as well.

Dubas has a lot of really good options right now.

which is why i am still shocked he decided to move for Matt Murray 3 days before free agency. For a 3rd and 7th? huge bleh from me.

I really like Balcers for a 3rd or 2nd line role. He was good offensively and defensively last year and hits more than anyone on the Leafs not named Simmonds/Clifford. He instantly replaces Milano as my #1 choice for middle 6 LW. I might even consider claiming him off waivers at 1.55M just to make sure we get him.
