The state of this board and organization.

The players talked about in this thread and the rumoured targets would be an absolute disaster. Patchwork value village assets.

Just dicking around a generational player in his prime playing money ball because you don’t have the balls to give up assets to acquire an elite talent at a crucial position.
Do you know of an elite goaltender that is available for trade?

I don't imagine either of those but Ridley Greig and I would even add a little something going the other way.

No need to add. Ottawa literally has no one else to bargain with, if the deal isn't good enough for us, they can buy him out.

Can’t wait for all the stats that show how great getting Murray will be for the leafs.

Brutal if he is even a 1b for us.

Rather go with woll and kallgren at least with more games they have some upside.

There is a pretty big gap between elite and Murry though. Just looking at the distance between him and Forsberg last year playing behind the same skaters it does not look like he was decent and it was the sucky team in front of him dragging him down.

I am just not sure what upside they see. Reimer was .911 2.90 playing on an equally bad team and he was better the two years before that as well. Not elite either but I know who I would take. Somebody needs to have the Bedard discussion with the Sharks as it is a proven fact that trading Reimer has generated #1 picks in the past.

They would retain half of his deal I am sure. The sweetener could be Brown but the reality is we only make this deal if we believe in Matt Murray as our #1 goaltender.

Brown wouldn't be enough, I would just wait it out for a buy out.

Presumably we'd still have Matt Murray though. I can't think of an add that would make us better, with having Matt Murray in goal.
He becomes the centerpiece in a Grubauer trade to bring the Kraken Bedard or Michkov. They need a goalie back in any deal.

Interesting to see George sign for Mraz money after a bad year and steadily declining save% since his rookie year. Makes me wonder how strong the Toronto factor is

Murray would need to be at 50% retention and with a sweetener, but does that make sense for Ottawa financially? 50% still only saves them 2.5M

My guess is either A. Leafs acquire Brown at full salary, Murray at 25%, for Kerfoot and Ottawa gives an asset to a 3rd team an asset for them to retain the additional 25% on Murray OR B. Leafs acquire Brown at 50%, Murray at 25% for Kerfoot and the Leafs pay a 3rd team to eat the additional 25% on Murray.

If its Murray at 50% retained I'd hold out for Shane Pinto. The kids a gamer with lots of talent and could replace JT at 2c after his contract is up. Hes the diamond in the rough that needs to be added.

If they’re acquiring Murray it has to be in a backup role and they’re almost expecting an injury if they’ve said they expect Kallgren/Woll to be a factor.

Maybe Murray at 50% and bring in another goalie as the primary starter?
