Re-signing Campbell with term terrifies me. He's not exactly the problem, but Jack Campbell isn't the answer either.

It almost looked like Yzerman was comforting Dubas at the draft table, I'm wondering if that discussion had anything to do with DET acquiring Husso.

This certainly feels like an abrupt shift from what had previously been reported. Can't say I'm ecstatic but hopefully good guy Jack doesn't push for huge money.
i agree. not thrilled, was hoping for a real upgrade. But i’d rather bring back jack over these names that have been mentioned. guys like husso/kuemper/murray seem lateral at best. i’d still like to see a solid backup added though. woll isn’t ready and the only reason anyone even knows kallgrens name is because our entire goalie group was injured last year.

Palat is gonna be looking for a big pay day.

My guess is he goes back to Tampa Bay still but if not, I can see Anaheim giving him a hefty deal. I can't see the Leafs being involved in a bidding war

Especially for a 31 year old 50pt forward looking for a retirement contract with a ton of playoff mileage on him.

You’ll eventually pay to dump him and if his decline coincides with Tavares there will be problems.

Yeah. Marchment and Anthenasio are two LW forwards I can see Dubas targeting.

Marchment is gonna be heavily coveted though, so I can see leafs being outbid as well.

Wild day that I'm just now catching up on. That Husso contract should further help the goalies heading to the UFA market. Didn't necessarily expect him to end up where he did. Vanecek being moved by WSH also caught me by surprise a little bit. Goalie shopping should be a fun one for the Leafs. I just can't see a Campbell/Kallgren or Woll tandem happening here next season...have to believe that something doesn't line up quite right about that.

Gimme Campbell and Holtby, and I’m good
Was mentioned that Holtby may have to retire due to injury.

Maybe Campbell with Comrie or Jones or one of SJ’s excess goalies.

Based on reports it’s looking like Kuemper will end up in Washington and Campbell will go to Edmonton.

Need to hope Kyle finds some magic like
Bobobrvsky with retention, Talbot, Gibson.

Unfortunately teams know Kyle is desperate. Hopefully they don't bend him over too bad in a trade if it comes to that. We are overpaying regardless for a goalie whether be trade or free agent signing. I hope people are ready for it. Brace yourselves

Reports from who? because I watched insider trading today, well technically yesterday now that Campbell is now top priority in Toronto.

That's just lazy

So with Palat being an option....100% that's my top 6F target, dooooo it.

Letting Hyman walk then signing Palat to a very similar contract seems like a bad idea to me

If it was a bad idea last season it's still a bad idea this season

Friedman on 32 thoughts had the Holtby information and if we give Campbell 5*5 it's going to be a mistake

An extremely large one imo

He can be the priority but I don’t think we have the money for the shorter deal or the willingness to give term.

Multiple reports on Campbell to Edmonton. Will come down to term versus comfort. Hyman all over again.

Will see if Dubas goes to 4 years maybe he stays. Oil lost out on Markstrom because Calgary gave the extra year. I don’t think they will want to lose out again. I could see Edmonton doing 5 x 5 or even 5.5. Especially if other goalies suggest they don’t want to go there. Edmonton is not for everyone so if someone has interest they will overpay you seal the deal.

That being said none of these guys know what they are talking about. 2 days ago they had Kuemper returning to Colorado.

Nah man these guys are plugged in you really th guys like Lebrun, or Bobby Mac or Freidman guys With years of proven track record don't know what they are talking about?

That doesn't mean they are right every time but they are definitely plugged in.

Huge mistake to give Campbell a 5x5 contract, much rather trade for Gibson (if they can get Anaheim to retain 1.4m) at that point and try someone new whose been a actual starter In the NHL, and has previously put up solid numbers.

If Toronto goes into next season with a Blackwood/Holtby/Jones esq type goaltender, with Woll/Kallaigen as a backup, Dubas should be fired in the summer for that.

Disappointed we didn't trade kerfoot or holl

Interesting now that Kefoot's bonus was paid out and he is only owed $750k. He can be another own rental and we'll find a LWer who is harder to play against next off season. Or better perhaps it will be Knies.

$5m might be a discount. Oilers probably beat that easily if they do not get Kuemper.

Depends on the cost for Gibson. Be all accounts it is not cheap.
