Chris Johnston and Friedman both mentioned Mason Marchment as a player the Leafs will target this off-season.

I'm fine with it. Just don't know how much he'll cost. But he's def the type of player we need in the top 6
That truly is a tough one, as it was his first "full" season, and he excelled - although, so did all of Florida. Would not mind a two years "show me" contract, but I believe that would also include 31 other NHL teams.

Weird, wonder if he'd even wanna come back after the team basically gave up on him. He is a Toronto boy so maybe the desire is still there.

Not for the price he'll go for. Had a completely unsustainable shooting bender for about 20 games last year, any team that gives him term and money is going to regret it.

I would say that the Ducks would be looking for a lot more than that for Gibson. I think it would have to include either Sandin or a 1st with the package you listed. Mrazek is almost a buyout candidate, Holl is a #6 that struggled. The other 2 pieces are good, but you're not getting a #1 goaltender for that.

Lots of issues with this.

1. Why is LA bringing back Muzzin?
2. How are we getting Paul and Marchment so below their expected values?
3. Why would Minny bring in MORE cap?
4. Hartman just had a career year centring the Wild's top line, why is he on the wing?
5. Rielly - Boosh was devoured in the playoffs, are you really running them back out as a high TOI 5v5 pairing?

Don't get me wrong, I love that fantasy forward group, but too many breaks going our way.

Seeing we're probably losing Mikheyev I would take a run at Kuzmenko. He'd have to sign a 1 year ELC so there's a potential bargain. You could easily fill a hole in the middle six for cheap and the sell job wouldn't be that difficult to his camp.

Minnesota wouldn't do this. They are trying to trade Fiala because they don't have money and are in cap hell because of Ryan Suter and Parise buyouts. Also their gm isn't trading greenway who he just gave 3 years extension to, and Ryan Hartman; their 1C on cheap contract.

Kuzmenko is too old for an ELC. He's signing an SPC and there will be a bidding war. Could always find the next Russian that has yet to breakout though.

Didn’t think our bottom 6 could be less equipped to play playoff style hockey than last year, but you did it!

Yep. Unfortunately the Wild and Leafs make poor trading partners for hockey trades given the Wilds salary crunch

If/when the Wild opt to shed some salary the Leafs could potentially circle back

There’s many ways you can change that. Instead of Anderson, sign Aston-Reese. Trade Engvall for a draft pick and sign Cousins.

Cousins - Kampf - Aston-Reese

I also wouldn’t run with Campbell and Mrazek in net either but I was trying to be as realistic as possible.

Id trade a 2023 1st and prospect along with Mrazek for Gibson. Sign Jones as a cheap back up and hope Gibson on a way better team can bounce back like Freddy has in Carolina.

Steeves-Tierney-Mikheyev is a problem too.

Carolina wouldn't do this. They don't operate like this. They won't trade pesce at all. Maybe not even Necas. Carolina and Florida along with Tampa are three of the most well run teams in NHL

I don’t know if I will include florida in that yet. Give them a few more years. They’re all in right now. No first round pick for the next two years. Only one second. Things could come crashing down for them real fast in a few years. They’re at roughly 78.5 million cap hit next season. Majority of their roster is signed and have ELC heponiemi. We’re in tough cap wise but so are the panthers.

Worth noting pretty much all the bargains they hit on last free agency were within the 25-27 age range and were either not qualified (Kase,Kampf) or group 6 UFAs (Bunting).

I put Florida because we have seen player's like Barkov take less that what he should be paid. All their team is mostly signed and they draft really good
