I sense anger.

As @Nylanderthal pointed out, there is absolutely no hostility in what I posted. I am just stating facts. There is absolutely no precedence for what you are suggesting, and I doubt that will change with a guy as successful and valuable as Kerfoot.

That being said, I have very little reason to be angry on here and certainly not for a post like that. There are far more outrageous fantasies posted on here on a daily basis which would be more "anger-inducing", and even those don't bother me.

Yep Kerfoot hit 50 points this year while not getting much PP time and is versatile on the wing and at centre, while being able to PK.

For 1 year at $3.5 there’s good value there for a team that needs top 9 depth, particularly considering he’ll be 28 at the start of next year and a team can re-sign him at a reasonable price through the rest of his prime.

The only negative regarding Kerfoot is on July 1st 2022 his contract adds a 10 team no trade clause. Which is where a lot of the most interested parties would have come from. The NHL also is doing the draft and free agency later this summer. So, if they were planning on trading him before his no trade kicks in, it gives them a shorter time frame to get a deal done.

Unless you are trading Kerfoot for picks, I don't see any difficulty in moving a 50 point player getting paid 3.5mm, and after his bonus is paid 750k in real money.

Picks might be difficult if the other team is up against the cap, if they moved small contract along with picks no problem.

A no-trade clause isn't a big deal, especially when it's only 1 season that his family would be inconvenienced.

Why are we trading kerfoot?

51 points and he pks, can play on any line.

Unless you badly need capspace, there isn't a reason to move this type of player

Marchessault is really good and I've liked him for awhile but I don't think the Leafs can afford taking on 1.5M more in cap space going into next season.
They can afford it if they shed Muzzin/Mrazek. Assuming Campbell takes something between Forsberg (2.75M) and Driedger (3.5M) and Woll/Kallgren/McKay are backups you free up 1M right there.

Only way it works is if you trade Muzzin. But I don't think the Leafs have any interest in that despite the notion around here.

Dumping Mrazek is possible if the Leafs attach a pick or something. Worst contracts have been dumped. Leafs don't have many picks though, so seems unlikely they go that route. I don't think it will be easy to dump that contract cleanly, so I wouldn't expect the full 3.8M off the books.

The Leafs should be able to fit all their RFA without having to juggle things too much. Kerfoot for picks and it should be just enough. But if you're trading Kerfoot to add 1.5M, it's not do-able anymore.

I think the most likely scenarios for Muzzin are:
1. LTIR for last 2 years of contract
2. Plays for Leafs next season
3. Traded to LAK as a neutral asset or straight up for Sean Walker

Muzzin hasn't shown at all that he's going on LTIR. He's playing right now. I understand that he had tough injuries but he seems content in playing. When you plan for signings and cap things, you can't just assume players will go on LTIR out of the blue. If Muzzin wasn't playing and wasn't practicing, I could understand a little more.

Players get traded all the time, so it's possible. Dubas has spent a lot of assets to bolster the defensive quality and depth so I don't see it going into next season. Giordano has been good but he'll be 39 years old.

Lmao every Leaf player requires us to pay to trade apparently
The team sucks, haven’t you heard? Just ask some of the “realists” and they’ll all tell you how crappy the 4th overall team is and how full of liabilities there are asset wise.
I proposed it before: Kerfoot for Marchessault.
I’d rather deal Kerfoot to replenish draft capital and invest his cap into locking up giraffe & cobra

I could see them moving off muzz & holl and replacing Them with boosh & Gio. That still gives them a top 6 of Reilly brodie Gio boosh Lilly Sandin, that’s a pretty good start. Probably shave several mill on the cap as well

Muzzin has played 1 consecutive game as of yesterday. He has been out periodically all of 2022. It depends how the playoffs go.

I think that's a downgrade with a lot of risk.

Sandin hasn't consistently been able to handle tough minutes. It doesn't feel like he's ready for an increase in responsibility. Giordano is old and expecting him to keep up his level of play is not a smart thing to do. You keep Giordano to give him a Spezza level role, not a prime role.

Trading Holl and re-signing Boosh is fine. Holl is a better player that does more than Boosch but cap savings could make it interesting.

But he's playing. He was practicing for a long-time while out of the lineup. LTIR retirement requires the player to be injured and unable to play. I don't know how more clear this has to be.

I'm just saying it's not uncommon for the people who do go on LTIR retirement to play until the playoffs and never come back - see Weber, Hossa, Datsyuk, Callahan, Boychuk.

After a breakout season in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg, it appears there will be a long list of North American clubs looking to speak to Andrei Kuzmenko as his deal in Russia expires.

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reported Tuesday on Insider Trading that more than half of teams in the NHL plan to reach out to the 26-year-old winger.

"He’s ready to start having those conversations next week with NHL teams, and it’s thought that there will be 20 teams that will at least reach out with some degree of interest," Johnston said. "He and his agent Dan Milstein will work through the options, try to whittle it down to maybe five or six, have follow-up conversations and eventually make a final decision."

"Kuzmenko was a point-per-game scorer in the KHL. Obviously, there is that tremendous amount of interest and the one thing that he’s looking for? He wants to go somewhere he can play, where he’s going to have a role. He’s not fixated so much on a particular city."

Kuzmenko posted a career-high 20 goals and 53 points in 45 games this season. He kept up his point-per-game pace in the playoffs with seven goals and seven assists in 14 playoff games.

A native of Yakutsk, Russia, Kuzmenko was never drafted. He played for Russia at the 2016 World Juniors, going without a point in seven games.

He has spent the past eight seasons in the KHL and has been with SKA St. Petersburg since making the move from CSKA Moscow in 2018.

Then I miss read you. I have high intelligence autism and that happens a lot. Like Dangle content, some times the world and communication irks me. I was seeing a pattern of Nashville trying to offer Toronto cap seems to a common tempt. Also, I hear a lot of emotional rants about Kerfoot over the past few years. Just thought he might be available.
