Ottawa was actually pretty good a couple of those years. One year they were the 4/5 seeds and another year we beat them as the 7th seed.
That was a weird triangle at the time. They also beat that Philly team that we couldn't beat, twice.
Top 10 goaltending would have done the trick but whatever floats your boat. All they needed was Vezina-calibre goaltending….
Their better forwards were all fairly old but they were still a 100pt club pre loser point who made it 3 rounds deep. Never mind Marner/Matthews, sub in even Willie and they could have been there. This was a tough club to play against. And how did that work out for them when up against the leagues best and not just muffin Ottawa?

I loved Mats but he wasn't enough, even in the dead puck era to overcome a lineup where he was the only forward with over 24 goals. That was probably his last season as a game breaker and he spent the rest of his career waiting for them to add a complimentary talent who never came.
noHave you guys heard rumors of a Nashville/Toronto trade?
TDL passed by a while ago. Who would they be tradingHave you guys heard rumors of a Nashville/Toronto trade?
This late in the year seems unlikely that anything legit would be leaked. Teams might toy with the idea of a particular move next summer but I don't think they are really exploring anything until the playoffs reveal what their greatest issue is. Now there could have been a failed discussion pre-deadline but with two playoff clubs involved, who is the seller?Have you guys heard rumors of a Nashville/Toronto trade?

Myers has the extra bonus of when boughtout, the buyout team gets 610k of cap. I'm at the point of sorting puzzle pieces; Tolvanen and Kunin same like odd pieces. Kerfoot and Sandin?Haven't heard anything but I wouldn't be shocked if Myers holds some interest for the Leafs since you guys loaned him to us
What are you guys after?

I just have a feeling that there is going to be more. We are talking about big trade Dave Poile.Leafs are pretty high on Sandin. Not sure they'd be super interested in moving him this offseason

Also, if Nashville is going to give Toronto free 610K of cap along with taking Kerfoot's contract, there has to be SOMETHING coming from Toronto. Might just be Myers for a 7th and Toronto buys him out giving Toronto 610K
As a fan, I'd like an upgrade on Tolvanen on LW. Kunin might be on the block too.
If true, ok. Not the first time I have been wrong. LOLThat's not how it works. Nashville would get the cap credit of $616k next season if they buyout Myers, not Toronto. Nashville would have a cap penalty of around $633k the following season.
If Nashville buys out Myers, the Leafs will likely sign him as there seems to be mutual interest with the loan.
Toronto isn't sending anything to Nashville for Nashville to buy out Myers.
You're not entirely wrong. The cap credit exists. You also mentioned that Toronto would trade for Myers and then buy him out which I missed initially so my mistake as well.If true, ok. Not the first time I have been wrong. LOL

I think what likely ends up happening is Nashville buys out Myers and the Leafs sign him at around league minimum as a 7th defenceman with the chance to move up depending on how he plays.

We aren't paying anyone to take Kerfoot's contract. There is nothing coming from Toronto, and there would have to be something very worthwhile coming from Nashville if they want us to even remotely consider it... And it has to be a lot better than Kunin and Tolvanen. A pair of struggling young players who don't really have a defined role and would have to compete with various prospects we already have for playing time is not exactly attractive to the Leafs.
Myers has negative value. He may have the credit next year, but he is 633k of dead cap the year after. Plus if we want him in our organization next year, we can't buy him out and sign him.

Knowing that poster, no there’s 0 hostility it’s just facts of the situation they’re telling you.I sense anger.
See aboveKerfoot is valued by the Leafs front office. Of his 51 points this season, 47 are from even strength. Plus he PKs.
I don't see them paying anyone to take him even if they opt to try and trade him
