Leafs vs conference finals Leafs

01-02 --------- 21-22 ---------- 98-99

Sundin ------ Matthews ----- Sundin
Roberts ------ Marner ------ Thomas
Mogilny ----- Nylander ---- Berezin

Corson ------- Tavares ----- Sullivan
Tucker -------- Bunting ----- Johnson
Green -------- Mikheyev ---- King

Reichel ------- Kerfoot ------ Perreault
Renberg ------- Kase --------- Korolev
Hoglund ------ Engvall ------ Warriner

McCauley ----- Kampf --------- Adams
Valk ------------- Blackwell ------- Valk
Domi ----------- Simmonds ------ Domi

Healey -------- Spezza --------- Bohonos
Belak ----------- Clifford --------- King

Kaberle -------- Rielly ------- Berard
McCabe ----- Giordano -- Karpotsev

Lumme ----- Brodie ------ Cote
Berg ---------- Muzzin ----- Yushkevich

Pilar ---------- Liljegren ----- Kaberle
Cross --------- Boosh ---- Markov

Eriksson ------ Holl -------- Eakins
Dempsey ---- Sandin --- McAllister

Corson fought 21 times in a Leafs uniform excluding the pre-season. Green, Svehla, Yuskevich, McCabe, Nolan, Markov were all 'etc.' guys that played physical as well. Those teams were arguably the toughest in the league. Nowhere near as skilled as the Matthews-era, but they weren't to be trifled with.
And how did that work out for them when up against the leagues best and not just muffin Ottawa?

You forgot the goalies.

Honestly, if Belfour or Cujo, heck even The Cat had been playing for the Leafs these past two years, they would probably advance to the next round even if AM and MM combined for ONE goal in the series.

Campbell wasn’t the issue last post season. He wasn’t great towards the end with some untimely muffins, but the problem was lack of goal scoring

I mean, we're basically present day muffin Ottawa, so weird chirp. But they were 3-6 in series not against Ottawa. Maybe this year will be the year they break through, but the Quinn Leafs were clearly more successful insofar, by a not close margin.

Belfour was good.

Cujo overrated as hell.
Yep, looked impressive with the highlight real saves but wasn't actually that good. He was fine, don't get me wrong but he certainly wasn't as good as he was made out to be.

Yup. He is either the 1B again next year or we found a team who wants him to be their 1B.

Typical Leafs luck that this guy has had a perfect bill of health other than a fully healed thumb injury from last year and then this year he major groin problems.

he can't be on the team next year, he just can't because he can't stay healthy 32 games the past seasons combined says it all.

The guys career is on life support

Off Season moves-

Trade Kerfoot for picks/prospects
Trade Holl for picks/prospects
Trade Mrazek+ sweetener to New Jersey for Blackwood
If possible, Trade Muzzin + picks for whatever return

Resign-
Mikheyev
Engvall
Giordano
Lyubushkin
Liljegren
Sandin

If we lose in the first round,

Look at a possible Nylander trade considering Matthews, Marner and Tavares aren't getting moved.

Sam Carrick was someone I really wanted the Leafs to get this off-season, but he re-signed with the Ducks for 2 years. Good for him.

He has been healthy his entire career playing 40-50 games for 5 straight years before last year. He suffered a freak thumb injury last year which required surgery and has no impact on the injury he suffered this year, which was his groin.

He is far from injury prone. This is the first year where he has had any real injury concerns, and one year with poor health and performance does not override a lengthy and perfectly healthy career where he has performed well as a tandem starter. Especially when he is only 30 years old.

Let's be honest there was no "etc". That's the whole list and Corson wasn't even a hitter or fighter anyways.

Corson fought 21 times in a Leafs uniform excluding the pre-season. Green, Svehla, Yuskevich, McCabe, Nolan, Markov were all 'etc.' guys that played physical as well. Mickey kinda covered this for me.
