So fire him now and let Shanny take over. Standing pat all but guarantees a first round exit and the end of Kid Kyle.
Need to happen. Last year team so soft, desperate for broken back player for grit. My 8 year old nephew can beat up half team.

This year on top soft he add on shit goalie and let good one walk. It not goalie fault it gm fault for not knowing build proper roster. Andersen train to stop puck when leaf out of position or when soft in dzone. These two goalie need perfect play infront them to be good . What a joke.

Mrazek out for a goalie, Muzzin back and a top 4 D in puts everything back on track imo

Andersen not only played awful last year, but he certainly didn’t seem to care either. His attitude stunk, and riding the pine watching Campbell play Montreal in the first round (which was the right call based on their performance) was a virtual garauntee he wasn’t going to re-sign here.

He was injure. And any with sense know he's better than Campbell so even if andersen suck should go with best of worse for better chance. Goalie problem is his fault more evidence he can't build a team.

Ah yes his mystery injury that no one could seem to either detail or give a timeline for as clearly shown in the All or Nothing series. He did have an injury; it’s called bruised ego. From the outside looking in, it seems like once Campbell had won the net from him he basically just packed up his stuff and went home; quit on the team. Campbell outplayed him last year handily despite battling multiple injuries himself.

Big fan of Andersen early in his tenure here but last year left a bad taste in my mouth. Also injuries don’t change that Andersens play continually regressed in years 4 and 5 of his time here despite the improvement of the team

Sound like you have issue with last season. This nothing to do with current problem or bad decision made through gm. You don't destroy team for spite reasons like yours. Andersen was is and will always be more better. Carolina is not make believe. Just like he said holl is more logistic to keep because no options there, there is no good options for no.1 so no reason to abandon andersen.

Instead of for sure no.1 with known flaws can build around he bet on career backup. And you praise.

Last year has everything to do with this.

I never said anything about spite reasons. Andersen hadn’t shown in the past 2 years, through his play, that he was worth investing money and term into again. His play had declined so much in that time period and as I said, he wasn’t going to re-sign here after losing his net to Campbell last season. I know you want to make this a huge Dubas failure, but it’s not.

Clearly the alternate plan here hasn’t panned out but Andersen was never coming back.

Goaltending was not the problem yesterday like most of the season. Yes Mrazek gave an awful goal (3rd) but how many goal he saved first 40minutes.

Its just an other defensive struggle and we blaming goalie because the team cant defend well at all.

Sandin, liljegren, holl and lyubushkin all are 3rd pair dman. Rielly is awful defensive side. With Muzzin out, right now the only top 4 dman defensive side of the puck is tj brodie. So if leafs add a top 4 dman and muzzin come back, unstead of 1 top 4 dman ( defensive side), you get 3. Its a very huge difference.
You are completely incorrect and have been this entire season. The goaltending is horrible and the defense is very poor as well. Thats not even mentioning how lackluster our second line has been for months and how soft most of the players on this team are. We have an amazing top line and a very good 3rd line, every other place on this team has holes, are soft, or are downright terrible like our goaltending. Stop being an apologist.

It’s interesting really. Our defense really only needs one acquisition to push everyone else into the places they should be and improve fairly dramatically. That and Muzz back. Anything beyond that on the backend would be great, but not strictly necessary

In theory your right, but before Muzz got hurt he was playing terribly. I hope it all works out but I'm done believing in this team because all they do is collapse. We have a great first line and good 3rd line and Reilly and Brodie together are a solid first pair but beyond that the team isn't very good right now.

Yup he was dog shit the majority of his final two full years here and full on quit on the team in the Covid season.
The leagues most robust and detailed medical team couldn’t source this supposed injury last year it was all “when Freddie feels better”

Goalies no.1 reason we struggling.

Gm in charge of goalie decision. Fell for Campbell sample in easy division to ever exist. Playoff ending should have been the ending of story and meet andersen contract demand.

How is that not gm failure? His decision making lead us to this problem.

We too soft so have to waste first round pick last year. Now goalies suck off his own team build and we might spend assets to fix again. Don't know how you people under a spell so bad.

People at current moment can't find any goalie options but now oblivious that this supply issue was more reason not to bet on backup goalie and stick with andersen. At least we know his flaw and can think how to offset. We dont know Campbell bad looks like. It nightmare

Nowhere have I claimed they goaltending this season is going well or to plan. In fact I’ve been quite vocal about how not good enough it’s been, before many here finally soured. I have also said Dubas has to own some of that, but I simply don’t fault him for “letting” Andersen walk. Based on his last 18-24 months of play, based on him seemingly quitting on the team when Campbell won the net, based on the fact he almost assuredly wasn’t going to choose to come back, I find that ”decision” really hard to lay at the GMs feet.

Ah yes, the one line team with garbage D who’s 6th? 7th league wide? Right…. It’s like some of you don’t watch any hockey aside from the leafs… Defence makes mistakes, literally the name of that game is mitigating mistakes and we’re middle of the pack at worst with regards to that, which is fine considering the other strengths on the team. Our black hole of a second line while admittedly has not been looking good as of recent has two guys hovering around ppg. The critical weakness on this team is goaltending, they can’t buy a routine save. Get league avg goaltending and Muzzin back in form and this is a contender.

They didn’t just bet on a “back up” they also brought in a guy with a decade of track record as a platoon starter for a playoff team. Unfortunately both have had issues this year. To me it’s more so how they react to this issue not so much that it popped up

If you can get Varlamov, you get him at this point. Another name I’d be looking at would be Vejmelka, that’s more so an off-season move but a goaltending tandem of Varlamov-Vejmelka with a revamped defence is intriguing.

Getting Kerfoot and end around way ending up with Brodie is fine return for a Kadri trade.
Why do people put Brodie in the same sentence as the Kadri deal? I never understood that. It’s like we’re trying to make the trade seem better. Brodie was a UFA signing the following year after the Kadri-Kerfoot trade. It’s not because we got rid of Kadri we signed Brodie. Whether we still had Kadri or not, Brodie would have been a target for Dubas in free agency.

Because they wanted Brodie and Kadri denied the trade to Calgary and instead of resigning Barrie they scooped up Brodie with the cap allotment. It’s pretty straight forward

Well at least we know he has zero percent chance of being suspended. Softer than a baby's butt.
Yeah, Kadri is useless in the playoffs for obvious reasons. Kerfoot was totally useless against the more physical teams out west.
