I'm a bit puzzled by the love for Liljegren right now. He's a rookie dman, and those take a while to develop, and he's showing flashes of being a respectable dman in the future, but as of today he's prone to bad turnovers, bad penalties, and lacks physicality (this last part probably won't improve much).

I am not doubting hes having a tough time but its not him alone...my eyes have been hurting a lot of late with teh overall defensive play of the team to be quite frank. It's been poor.
To me he's looked pretty decent. Sure he makes his share of mistakes, but so have our other 'veteran' Dmen too so why not just let him keep playing consistent minutes and get some flow going and seeing if he isn't improving? I like that he's getting more minutes recently and that he's putting up a few more points too.
Also other than Muzzin and Lyubushkin, who else on the Leafs defense is really physical?

I still think Chychrun is a real possibility for the Leafs… even if Muzzin were to be back before the playoffs. Chychrun and Crouse and I’d be over the moon!

Maybe we could acquire Ritchie? He has some size and toughness to go with some decent skill.
He is practically like Crouse and probably wouldn't cost a lot to acquire.

I really don’t know much about Hagel, but it seems that a lot of Leafs fans would be happy to get him. Manson is a defenceman I would be thrilled to see in the Blue and White.
Not going to happen. The asking price is just too much
They would want a prospect, 1st minimum

I don't mind him playing right now, but we can't have him in our top 6 in the playoffs. Not this year.
Sandin's physicality is a bit underrated, but the fact that our only physical dmen are Muzzin and Lyubushkin might be a playoff problem. I'd love to add one more physical dman, especially if Muzz is not a sure thing.
There's no point on going all in by giving up futures without a reliable goalie and your not retaining both those players with Muzzin and a new goalie next year.

I would pay that price in a heartbeat to upgrade the defense and second line. A goaltending upgrade isn't realistic at this point in the season.

Hagel plays a similar game to Bunting. Goes to the dirty areas, has soft hands in tight and despite being undersized has an edge to his game. I don't think he is a true talent 30 goal scorer, but at his price even 20 goals is a steal.

Acquiring Manson and getting Muzzin back would make me feel a whole lot better about our defense. That gives the Leafs one big body on each pair that can box out and lay the body.

3-5 goals are not going to be available in the playoffs every game. Defense/goaltending is a concern.

He's been one the players on my list to be traded for awhile. Dubas likes doing 1 for 1 depth trades.
Maybe Minny would send over McBain for Duszak if they can't get a pick high enough.
