Actually, for him to say he's on the JT Miller train to Toronto sounds more like there has been discussion between the two teams. While insiders like to throw names around, very rarely do they actually pin point a player to a team and for him to say he believes in the JT Miller train to Toronto is because there's obviously some smoke there.

Yeah I dont think Freidman just throws shit at the wall either. More like he has heard the Leafs/Canucks talking or that the leafs were interested in JT Miller but due to Cap reasons didn't seem viable. But now with the Muzzin situation, its different.

There is only $1.75m difference between Miller's hit and Kerfoot's so they don't need Muzzin s money to make that deal. Plus they need to move minutes out to give him playing time. But cost would IMO not justify the gain as he and JT would cannibalize each others ice time and production. He belongs on a club with a hole in the 1a or #2 spot. Besides as a pure rental Giroux should cost a lot less and produce just as well. And Max Domi costs less yet and has a better pp60 than either but unfortunately isn't a center, or at least no more so than Kerf.
If Muzzin is out they are spending their major green on a D man and any forward they add won't be a high profile talent

Dubas moved on from his Ritchie mistake quickly. He needs to do the same with Mrazek and then let Campbell walk or resign as a backup to backup money.
Maybe it's time to overpay for Gibson.

Miller probably costs Amirov/Robertson, our 1st, and one of the Finnish prospects most likely.
It’s a steep price, but cements our top 6 for a while.
Perhaps Kerfoot is moved in a different deal or goes to Vancouver in the same trade with a 2nd or 3rd coming back.

Waiting for the mouth breathers to blame this on the D. Perhaps it's sinking in with people that the D isn't (nor hasn't) been the issue outside of Muzzin's struggles.

The 2LW and no.4 were luxury additions to put us ahead of our rivals instead of being on par (or slightly, just slightly worse depending on who you're asking).
The goalie is a new, unexpected need in order to remain a team capable of even winning a round against the worst playoff team. There's a huge difference.

We don't need a top 6 winger. We have 3 forwards making over 11M. We need a defender and some faith in our all star goalie.
Leafs need a RHD top 4 defender that makes the team hard to play against.
We're not doing anything on the goaltending front, more likely to bolster the D and hope we give up less chances. There are only so many pieces to move mid season.
Leafs are a playoff team, maybe good enough to win a round but not going deep with this current makeup. I think we're in a bad spot, desperately need a top 6 F and top 4 D. Both are going to cost a fortune, Dubas doesn't win a round and he's gone so he might just throw caution to the wind and take the over payment route.
