Any Rangers deal for Chychrun would definitely include Kakko and a 1st along with another piece.

Really would be nice to get a hard hitting defensive defender make it hard for the opposing team to play against no offence needed lol

Not sure what he'd cost with retention, I'd say 2 2nds, maybe even a 1st.

Here's a couple comparable trades:
Brenden Dillon Trade History - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps (2nd + 3rd, then 2nd + 2nd)
Brady Skjei Trade History - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps (1st)

Edit: If the price is a 1st, stay clear; they're better off just running it.

If I were Dubas, the answer is trade for Chychrun and Crouse. Add credibility to the blue line with a minute munching dman that is a threat to score from the blue line. As well, get a big power forward before he hits his stride and doesn’t cost too much. Crouse kills penalties, plays net front and has earned the nickname of “Sheriff” for sticking up for his teammates. These elements are sorely lacking in the current squad.

Cost? Sandin + Amirov + our 1st. Add salary to balance. Ritchie, Kerfoot, etc.

Do what you got to do to get Manson... We need a big physical shut down Dman who can fight if he has to. All the other shiny toys aren't what we need.. we need someone to step up on guys in the top 4 so Muzzins not the only guy doing it.

Doing some browsing of some of the teams already out of the picture; Some may not be realistic (Parise, Edler) in terms of wanting to move, as they've signed where they are for a specific reason, but overall, this is a decent encompassing list of targets we may hear approaching the deadline (some we've been linked to already)

There's a couple goalies, but I think it's unlikely we trade Mrazek in-season. Feels like more of an off-season shuffle.

Carson Soucy (D) - SEA
Calle Jarnkrok (F) - SEA
Mark Pysyk (D) - BUF
Derick Brassard (F) - PHI
Justin Braun (D) - PHI
Oliver Wahlstrom (F) - NYI
Zach Parise (F) - NYI
Scott Mayfield (D) - NYI
Nathan Bastian (F) - NJD
Damon Severson (D) - NJD (if available as rumored)
Johan Larsson (F) - ARI
Brandon Hagel (F) - CHI
Trevor Moore (F) - LAK
Alex Edler (D) - LAK
Andrew Cogliano (F) - SJS
Jacob Middleton (D) - SJS

He is not a good hockey player. Pass.

He is doing better this year, but if people think he is a major upgrade on Holl, they will be disappointed.

He hasn't been that great for 4 years now, and even though this is arguably the best season Manson has had since his one big year and Holl has had a major rough patch earlier this year, his numbers have only been slightly better than Holl's so far.

Neither bring offense, and Manson is not exactly better at preventing the puck from going in the net in a tough role than Holl is.

And they want a 1st...

The classic. Teams are just trying to hype up their assets. It's pretty normal. Hope and aim high, get something that lands in the middle. The prices always tend to be a lot more reasonable once they are done. Just look at the Eichel trade.

I don't think Manson is that good but to each their own .. kinda reminds me of the desire to bring in Foligno last year.
Manson has foligno 2.0 vibes all over him. Eastern time zone people see the name & remember the one season he looked like he might take that next step. He never did.

Curious to see who you think a lot of these guys replace in our lineup... Seems like most, if not all, are either not upgrades or not worth the cost to acquire as an upgrade.

Yeah no real need to add depth pieces for this run for the sake of it. I don't think there is real upgrade there worth the cost.

Only look at legit top 9 upgrades or a top 4 d-man .. but not a pure rental

Severson fits exactly what the Leafs need. Right handed, great 2-way game and capable of playing tough minutes. Fairly underrated. Value is hard to gauge. If the Leafs can get him for a similar price they paid for Muzzin... that would be top notch.

Braun, Soucy and Mayfield are lower end alternatives. Questionable that they can play tough/high minutes, and they lack skill, but they definitely add a big physical element.

Pysyk would be an underrated addition. He's cheap and a very good depth option. Would not require much to get I don't think but can give some efficient minutes.

With Mikheyev healthy and playing really well, as well as Kerfoot and Bunting playing very well, it's hard to imagine a big need for a forward. I think a center for the taxi squad/AHL would be wise though, similar to the Riley Nash trade of last year.

Severson & Hagel are the two on the posters list that stick out to me as guys that would improve the team significantly.

Agreed. Although money is so tight right now, I am not even sure we can afford to do that.

What is also interesting is our healthy top 9, and even a top 9 which has Engvall (who is 4th line when we are fully healthy) in it, is still really hard to upgrade for any kind of reasonable cost. It has been the 4th line, and especially the 4th line with Clifford on it, that has been sucking and putting more pressure on the top 3 lines. But short of you taking out Spezza (or Simmonds to get a guy who can support Spezza), what are you going to do to upgrade that 4th line besides using one of many better options we currently have in our organization instead of Clifford (if we have injuries)?

Not to mention that we will be getting some (forward) depth near the end of the year. It will be NHL inexperienced, but Holmberg has won an SHL championship and was MVP in said series, Amirov is Amirov (and has played in the KHL playoffs), and Robertson has already played in an NHL playoff series. Better than paying for a bunch of fringy NHL vets who have lost a step or were not very good in the first place.

Can we afford to have a guy who makes 4+ mill going forward? We are putting ourselves into an even deeper bind if we do. Right now, we are in a good cap situation for this year and next. Severson would be nice, but not essential.

Hagel is a nice to have, but I don't think he moves the needle all that much. He is a Bunting who can PK at best... And I don't see that being really any different than Kerfoot besides having some extra pestiness. However, Kerfoot has a lot of proven playoff experience (where he has performed well), has chemistry, and can play center. Moving him, or Mikheyev, to the 4th line when they have slotted in perfectly seems unnecessary... Never mind the cost to acquire a guy who fits Chicago's window.

During Saturday's edition of 32 Thoughts on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that Kadri had changed agents, hiring Darren Ferris of Quartexx Management. If the name sounds familiar, it's because Ferris also represents Leafs superstar winger Mitch Marner.

Kadri is an elite talent who is on pace for 120 points this season. But we're all aware of his playoff antics and unfortunately he did it again last season in an Avs jersey so he hasn't really matured in that department.

With all that being said, are you interested in the Leafs bringing back Kadri this off-season?
He loves the city, loves the team, and I'm sure he'd be open to it. But does the FO feel the same way?

If you're open to him returning this summer, on what terms would you feel comfortable with bringing him back.
If you're not open to him returning, how come?
