I take it with a grain of salt, without Marner/Kase/Engvall today. You need as much skill as possible when you face them and not having Marner tonight sucked.

I still stand by they need to upgrade on Holl in the top 4.

To me it’s not even Holl who’s the problem. Muzzin looks like an absolute plug out there and I think Holl’s just been the scape goat

Its Muzzin who needs to be replaced. I'd target chychurn from Arizona or if the ducks fall off Lindholm from Anaheim. Liljegren can play in the top 4 right now, especially with one of the aforementioned partners above.

I think Klingberg is better defensively than Barrie is. Not much, but a bit.

Being 7h in the NHL is not the year to blow the load? (3rd in the league in Points%). This Leaf team is a elite team, people don't want to believe because of past playoffs rounds but this is a good hockey club. They are a superstar away from being able to put it together in the playoffs away from being a force.

Toronto should absolutely be trying to bolster their lineup in anyway that helps them. I am on the boat of going for the big fish instead of adding a forward or d-man that doesn't push them over the edge.

Replacing Holl in the top 4 or a player that slides bunting down to the 3rd/4th line should be their top priorities at the TDL.

Why do we need to slide Bunting down to the 3rd or 4th line exactly? He has 20 points in 33 games, he plays chippy and is a perfect compliment for that top line. I doubt you can even find anyone, at least cheap, who fits as well as he can in the top 6 right now.

At this point, the Leafs do not really need anything except for Holl to turn things around. If he does that by the TDL, we may not even need to do anything if we don't have major injuries. Maybe we can find some more smart depth swaps that do not cost us any picks like the Galchenyuk trade, or very late round picks like the Nash trade. That is all I would do right now.

Move out Ritchie, Holl, and Mikheyev (6 million). Trade whatever you need to bring in a legit top 4 defenseman, preferably right handed, that has experience shutting down elite players. This is the make or break season for this management. Every prospect and pick should be on the table

Our 3rd line is a two-way line. Bunting is not a guy like Mikheyev/Engvall/Kase/Kampf. Moving Kerfoot down from the top 6 would actually make a lot more sense if that is what you wanted to do, since he is like those other guys.

Let him continue being a complimentary player to top players. That is where he excels, and that is where he is the most valuable. Moving him down to the bottom 6 does not really help us as much as keeping him in the top 6, and finding an upgrade for him which we can afford will likely cost us a 1st+. I mean I wouldn't trade Bunting for less than that right now.

If we get anyone up front, we should be looking for a replacement for Spezza as a 4C. If his faceoff ability continues to fall off as it has the last 10 games, and his shooting percentage normalizes (especially on the PP), then he is a major liability in our lineup. We have plenty of good wing depth.

As for Holl, we have 2 months to see. We don't need to make a trade now. If he is a problem later, then we can look at it then. Even then, guys like Chychrun and Klingberg are not going to be the answer.

E Kane - absolutely not. He does not have the type of issues that get fixed with some counseling.

Also, did we ever get any more information about the documentary he was filming at home where he pretended to have a gun and pretended to point it at his wife? Was it for an after-school special?

If we're in on Chychrun that's the only way it happens IMO. The downside is that it seems like despite not wearing a letter Muzz is a key guy in the room. It's risky given our main playoff difficulties being mental, and showing up the worst with him out of the lineup. Another downside is that he's the perfect mentor and partner to bring Liljegren along and supplant Holl in the top 4.

That being said, if the price reported is true (good young roster player, top prospect, pick), Sandin +Amirov/Robby + 1st should do it, then see what we could get back for Muzz from LA (likely a good portion of what we just lost).

But, LA could straight up out bid us for Chrychrun rather easily

I am not trading Amirov Knies and Niemela but i have no problem giving up robertson + 2022 1st + another good young player for Chychrun...also Kane can help us win so i dont care about he's character...he would be ok in a locker room with Rielly Tavares and Matthews

Yes but he can be retained at 50% because he is a ufa.

they are unlikely to use a retention spot on chych.

I would prefer chych. Get a 24 year old muzz signed for 4 years. But I think that we probably end up with gio and. Hope he signs for cheap next year.

Anyone else notice that Holl seems to be the 'scapegoat' because of other defensemen a lot? It's odd that our other defensemen all seem to be out to make him look worse.

holl has had bad moments this year. But muzz has been the problem.

he probably needs to be a 3rd pair d now. Ifnwr could have the muzz Holl pair as 3rd it would be perfect provided one lilly sandin could step up. I keep coming back to gio. Because I think he is the most realistic

San Jose’s veteran locker room couldn’t keep Kane in line but Matthews and Rielly will? Ok then. People need to stop suggesting this guy as a serious option. The organization isn’t going near Evander Kane, rightfully so.

But if he does he can be a great addition. He provides much needed top 9 toughness along with size and depth

Not to stick up for Kane because he undoubtedly has done some horrible things but it was proven that that video clip was from a photo shoot he and his wife were doing at the time that involved the gun. The video was held onto and posted completely out of context.

With that said, that doesn't excuse the other really stupid things that he's done.

Holl has look pretty good away from Muzzin where as Muzzin has looked like complete ass no matter who he’s playing with. That 3 goal was an embarrassment last night. He was completely lost

leafs fans keep saying these young kids need to get a back bone and play harder in tougher games yet they keep getting babied so that it’s all cherries and no one feelings get hurt?

You know what leafs haven’t won the cup since 67, haven’t won a series in god knows how long and we were the laughing stock of the league for quite some time

I think leafs fans are tired of little success, I know I am so yeah if kane ruffles some feather in locker room then suck it up because I do know on the ice in those tough games kane will show up and play/battle

People should watch the last dance documentary and see how the greatest athlete ever treated his teammates!!!

I am more and more thinking we likely just stand pat.

I mean, if we look at guys we may want to move;

Mrazek - Will need to go in the off-season, but makes no sense to trade him prior, unless a team like Edmonton offered us a 1st rounder or something
Holl/Dermott - Honestly not convinced either will be back next season, but for now, I think both make sense to keep until the off-season
Ritchie - I am assuming we tried to trade him. We tried waiving him. We can remain cap compliant with him on the taxi squad/marlies until he needs to play, so not like we need to pay to get rid of him
