I loved Naz in his time here, but we moved him for a reason. He can’t be trusted to play within the rules and not hurt his team in the playoffs.

He did it twice here before we moved him, and he’s done it again since arriving in Colorado.

And this is also ignoring that production wise he’s setting himself for a massive overpay come free agency

Chychrun would definitely be a nice addition but it would also cost us a lot. We also wouldn’t be able to fit him in without moving some major salary. The chemistry on this team is really good so I don’t think it’s a good idea to move someone like Kerfoot or Muzzin at least until the off-season.

A smaller move that could be beneficial for both teams and players could be something like this:

To Toronto: Rasmus Ristolainen
To Philadelphia: Justin Holl, Ilya Mikheyev

Philadelphia would need to retain some of Ristolainen’s salary to even things out but it gives Philadelphia a RHD that’s still under contract next year and a player in Mikheyev who could be given a better opportunity there.

Rielly - Brodie
Sandin - Ristolainen
Muzzin - Liljegren
Dermott
Ristolainen is a horrendous hockey player. No thanks.

If you wanted somebody big, right handed and useless Josh Brown may be available at a much cheaper price at the deadline.

What would be the cost to acquire Arturri Lehkonen?

Seems to be a great compliment to our bottom 6 to replace Pierre Engval, who I still like as well, just like how advanced Lehkonen is defensively.

I think I like Engvall better tbh.

On pace for 38 goals, his best pace ever.
2017-2018 he had 32 in 80 games, a 33 goal pace, with the Leafs.

His assists are way above his best pace though.
Highest pace was 2012-2014, and paced for 44 assists.
He is on pace for 92 assists.

On pace for 130 points.

Too expensive. Plus we need playoff performers. He doesn’t make himself available in the playoffs.

He does sometimes, had a very memorable game 7 against Dallas. Usually he watches his team lose from the press box but this time he had front row seats to the goals that eliminated them.

LOVE Kadri. But don't think it will happen. Reasons:

  • Naz probably looking at a retirement contract (Leafs can't afford that).
  • Naz is a top 6 center - we don't have room or cap space for him
  • Naz and Dubas probably don't see eye to eye. Naz probably doesn't want to play for Dubas
  • Leafs have other needs that they should look to address
  • Matthews and Willy UFAs in couple years; Sandin and Lily RFAs after this season including Campbell - other things we gotta address.
  • other reasons....

If Naz wants to win a cup he will sign a reasonable contract with the Avs and stay there. If he wants moolah then he will go to the highest bidder as a UFA I think.

This thread has been brought you to by your local Toronto ski hill distributors.

Hockey fans say hell no.

Go look up what Kevin Hayes makes.. Kadri will get more

Doesn't that mean so will everyone else half decent as well moving forward? Have we locked in our roster at this point indefinitely? It is what it is and the market is the market.

Just gonna say, Naz was my favourite Leaf for a few years and I was sorry to see him go. I totally understood the reasons and agreed we needed a breakup but I'd take him back at the right price in a heartbeat.

The elite ones are generally the exception but the best can still break down.

Yup, everyone does in the end. I think back to Bobby Orr, and what he accomplished on one knee. As great as he was, damn, if only medical procedures were what they are today, or if braces were better. The Lennox-Hill he (and I) used for years was not the greatest for protecting against future injuries. 6 arthroscopic procedures on the R knee, 4 on the left and two TKRs and I'm walking through security detectors with my fingers crossed.

Kinda

Campbell is likely getting 5x5 at this point

We will need to shed at least Mrazek

Any substantial change after this means a big salary needs to go.

Based on his combined play style and life style, I don’t see Kadri aging well.

I didn’t like trading him away in his prime, but I don’t like bringing him back for his golden years.
