So Moore 1.875 and Walker 2.65
For
Ritchie 2.5 and Holl 2.0

Difference of 25k, trade would still keep the Leafs under the cap with the ability to then put Walker in LTIR to either trade for a player of similar salary ? Or am I out to lunch

You can add as much in cap as making the trade without Walker

Interesting that Lebrun speculates Chiarot fetching a 1st at minimum due to the lack of rental D available on the market.

Have to think that drives up the price of Holl. RHD with an added year of term.

David Savard got a first+ last year so not far fetched but Lebrun is on his knees at the alter of the Habs and pumps their tires whenever given the opportunity.

If Holl could return a nice return (ie a 1st or 2nd +) could be tempting. But they'd have to be near certain that one of the Marlies guys is 100% ready to step up to be the #7

Lebrun does pump out stuff for the Habs which is a little biased in their favor.

I think it is unlikely that Holl will go now based upon Dubas holding on through expansion etc but Dermott? I think if he could fetch a late 2nd or a 3rd+5th type, definitely gotta consider it.

Would love to trade Ritchie (anytime) and Mrazek in the summer. My one concern is trading guys so soon after they've signed. Will that deter FAs from signing here in the future? Same thing to a lesser extent with guys like Lehtonen, Barabanov, Semyonov etc... I mean it is a business and players should understand that. If you don't perform, you put yourself in a position where the team needs to get rid of you to upgrade and/or save money. But at the back of my mind it makes me wonder about this.

If you are an FA and a winning team like Toronto wants you, but you are put off by the thought that after you get paid you aren’t expected to perform…..? ….. and if you don’t perform you are moved on from???

We don’t want you, then.

Pretty much and in the case of Mrazek, just a mistake.

If we can trade Holl for a 2nd and then trade our own late 1st for Chiarot (50% retained), then I think we've upgraded the team while sacrificing very little futures.

We'd then just need to find a Spezza/Bunting/Simmonds version (but on D) come home for a discount type of dman in the offseason (Subban?).

Not a worthwhile upgrade for us.

I don't think a trade should act as a deterrent in the signing of future UFAs. I'd assume Lehtonen and Barabanov preferred a trade to the pressbox when taking into account their status as pending UFAs. Ritchie only became a UFA due to not receiving a QO and has been a lineup fixture to this point. Mrazek has decent enough protection in the event of a trade. I'm not particularly worried.

Leafs will not trade their 1st this year period. I just dont see it happening. They'll try to make other moves without giving up their 1st. Salary for salary maybe.

Also, Ritchie may not have a goal yet, but I'm tired of everyone on here trying to give him away for free.

If he really was THAT bad, the man would've been a healthy scratch right now. Ritchie's style of game is still something the Leafs sorely lack and something thats going to be needed in the playoffs.

The goals will come. In the mean time, I think Dubas and Coaching staff are completely fine with Ritchie right now

There hasn't been a need to bench him yet, but the big test will come when Mrazek and Mickey are back. We'll have to clear up salary then.

Holl is a great problem to have. Whereas I have been critical of him, even at his $$, I'd prefer him over Zaitsev, Ceci or Barrie. We've come a long way.

To Toronto-
Miller @ 50٪
Schenn

To Vancouver-
1st Round Pick
Robertson
Engvall
Holl

Really wish we made that Johnsson plus Dermott for Weegar trade few years ago. The guy is on fire.

Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Weegar
Sandin Holl
Lilly

that looks really good to me

The issue isn't that he's been that bad overall, it's that the Leafs need cap space and you can get a similar player for at least half or quarter of his price. It's the Matt Martin debacle all over again. The Leafs will probably give him the year but for a team that needs every penny to matter, his contract is the worst. (Mrazek might beat him here but... injured)

I think you'll be surprised to see the Leafs dangle their 1st rounder again if they keep up their current pace. I would say it will have to be someone that is actually impactful on the ice though, not just off the ice. I'm talking someone like JT Miller or Hertl.

Leafs should trade for Ilya Lyubushkin

Seems like the perfect veteran 7th D to acquire to replace Holl if the Leafs are not satisfied with a call up internally.

Also side note, Arizona should be ALL OVER someone like Dermott. I also wonder what the cost of acquiring Barrett Hayton would be?

Next years cap os tight next year, we need to somehow shed salary to pay Campbell. Kessels money is finally off the books which will be helpful. If they can trade Mrazek that would be huge. It's the only way I think to make it work.

I think Hayton is the kind of guy they will be looking to add to the team isn't it? Young. Raw. Probably looking more to move Dzingel, Crouse, Kessel type guys. I agree they should be coveting a guy like Dermott but I'd rather lose Holl myself. But I could be on board for something around Lyubushkin and Crouse for Dermott / Holl and say Engvall. Probably have to add a pick as a sweetener.

100% but I'll never be surprised at what a manager of the Arizona Coyotes can do... and it's usually not good. Hayton just looks like someone that needs a fresh start *somewhere* and it's possible they sell relatively high on him if something comes up that makes sense. His numbers are... bad.

Lyub and Crouse for Holl and Engvall is a decent chunk of cap savings without downgrading the team that much. Unlikely the Coyotes have interest in something like that... unless they get Holl to re-flip at the deadline for pure picks? If Chiarot might fetch a 1st...

He's not completely useless and will likely start scoring again soon, but the important thing I think is that while there were a ton of question marks ok the team when we signed him, the play of the rest of the depth forwards has really answered those questions already.

All of Bunting, Kerfoot, Kase, Kampf, Simmonds, Engvall have really played well and have filled all their roles near perfectly.

Ritchie isn't on the 4th line just because he's played poorly, but also because everyone else has played so well - even if Ritchie starts scoring again at his usual 16gl/35pt level will we even want or need to move him back up the lineup ahead of anyone else? Ahead of who? And if he doesn't start scoring that much then is he even a top 12 forward for us?

So if he's just additional muscle on the 4th line (where we have simmonds and Clifford anyways) then that's probably the easiest way to shed cap without hurting the team. Much less painful than moving a top 4 dman or a #2 goalie.
