Not that I think he's going to make it to us, but we should be in on Clague if he does. I simply don't understand what LA doesn't like about him, especially on a rebuilding team.

Means we might be able to get Holl out of town even sooner!

Montreal should put in a claim for him.

With Mikheyev looking like he might be a could of weeks away, you would have to assume a deal will be made soon to allow some cap space for his return.

I think Holl and Engvall/Ritchie might be as good as gone.

Trade Ritchie for someone with a lesser cap. Something like Ritchie for Derek Grant or Nick Cousins would allow us to have a 22 man roster, keeping everyone on the roster.

The Leafs did not sign Ritchie for regular season hockey. For the life of me, I can’t understand why everyone is so eager to unload him. This team doesn’t need him to make the playoffs. But he’s the perfect compliment to our team come May. I would much rather trade Mik, as we’ve seen he is not needed and imo, redundant, with the likes of Kampf, Kasa, Bunting. Also, there’s a big drop off from Ritchie to Clifford. I’m keeping Big Nick

ritchie found a place this teams 4th line is a juggernaut with spezza and simmonds . he was looking fine with kase and kamph as well.. don't mess with that . its not like we have a 10 million$ 4th line like the isles did. i think if anyone's moved at this point it will be engvall/or mikeyev .both make close to the same both bring pretty much the same tho soup skates faster and has better hands at high speeds and i would give soupy the advantage defensively .

just depends if ilya can get back to speed before the deadline

Send Ritchie to the Marlies then (he'll clear waivers) and call him up next time someone ends up on LTIR and again for the playoffs.

if I’m trying to build some chemistry/confidence with him, this is the last thing I do. I’m not even sure why people are disappointed tbh. Maybe expectations were too high? I don’t watch watch as many games as I used to, but the effort has been there for the most part and he’s controlled the stupid penalties since being benched. As mentioned above, our 2 other 4th liners are making peanuts to offset and Ritchie has found a home there. Think about some of the guys we had playing fourth line minutes the past couple of seasons. No thanks

I don't even think Ritchie will contribute much come playoff time other than dumb penalties we could use a solid pker like Mikheyev to kill off.

Engvall is easily the odd man out when everyone is healthy. Frank Seravelli also mentioned Holl the likeliest to go in terms of Salary Cap maneuvering

Ritchie is the type of player Dubas has been clamoring about the last 2 off-seasons where he constantly kept saying "We need to change the dynamic of the bottom 6".

Its clear Dubas wants a tougher bottom 6 come playoff time. Someone who can change the momentum with physical play. I don't see Ritchie going anywhere. I'll be surprised if he does

Ritchie might have been what he was clamoring for but it's definitely not what he's getting. The plan was for Ritchie to play in a supporting top line role. Now he's on the fourth line and all of a sudden it was where he was supposed to be? That's not what you call reaching expectations and he's definitely not worth his cap space.

Will he get better? Will he be a playoff performer? Maybe. I have serious doubts. He'll very likely finish the season with the Leafs, even if he doesn't deserve to, but I'd be surprised if he was next season... but again we'll see.

Personally I think Dubas was thinking more about guys like Kampf than Ritchie when talking about the bottom 6 dynamic.

Ritchie I'm pretty sure he was looking as a top 6 winger solution - a guy who could score a bunch of goals playing with elite linemates. Hasn't happened though, and with the way Bunting and Kerf are playing I'm not sure it ever will.

Starting to think Soup might ask for more than leafs can afford. No sure why no thread on our MVP being a pending UFA has been created.

Because it's irrelevant to this year, and easily solvable for next year.

Because there's 7 months until it matters, and people are focusing on the elite team we have in front of us, instead of always panicking about the next thing. He's also not our MVP.
