if you sign Campbell around 5, Kase around 2, and Lily and Sandy for short bridges totalling 2 together, you would need to lose Dermott, Ritchie and Engvall and Mik.
Sub in Anderson on 4th line and Robertson on the left side and you are compliant.
I think you could probably move Mrazek to Arizona or Buffalo to get some respectability to their goaltending and help them get to floor, and then sign Holtby or Jones for around 2 million then you buy more space to keep/carry some of above players or space to upgrade

I like Duszak a lot but I think he's the kind of defenseman that can put up points in the AHL but struggles at the NHL level. Kind of like TJ Brennan and many similar defenseman like them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs sell "high" on him so that he can get a shot at the NHL. A rebuilding team should totally give him a chance.

Easy solution is trading Mrazek and finding a cheaper backup. Bringing in Mrazek made sense because 1. Campbell has had his injury concerns and 2. Was far from a sure thing - and will be terrific to keep around, but he’ll be easy to move in the off-season, especially once he plays behind this team a bit.

There's a video of EK pointing a gun at his ex-gf circulating on twitter. Yes, there's been tons of psychos in NHL history (and there may be one or two in the team), but why would you willingly make this sort of acquisition when all of Kane's dirty laundry is not only out in the open, but the player himself isn't doing so much as to acknowledge that it exists?

Again I'm not advocating for Kane or defending his actions. He's not a good person and not a good fit. My point was that Miller isn't a locker room sweetheart either and why mess up the room that's got insane chemistry.

Evander is guilty of fraud and has a massive gambling addiction. I want him no where near our team.

However, abusive husband and father? Still seems that’s unfounded. Unless there’s other incidents I’m unaware of. He’s been given sole custody of his daughter by the courts, and that video of him pointing a loaded gun, appears to be nothing more than a prop for a photoshoot according to Kane’s agent, and I’m sure they have the documentation to back that up to the courts.

As we’ve seen in Hollywood, never point a gun, real or prop at anyone, as accidents can happen, however, this doesn’t appear to be the murderous threat that it’s trying to be portrayed as.

I remember a few years ago the Leafs were reportedly all over Georgiev and the Rangers asking price was ridiculously high. 1st rounds picks, top prospects, etc. The Leafs then went ahead and acquired M̶u̶z̶z̶i̶n̶ Clifford with a goaltender by the name of Jack Campbell.

Georgiev is now over 4 GAA and below .860% save percentage. Probably just a rough patch though.

Another bullet dodged. Goaltenders are voodoo.

It's really so important.

The Avs are probably unlucky that Kuemper has been so poor for them but at the same time that's why you don't trade a 1st rounder and a good prospect for a goalie.

Campbell is looking more and more like the best move Dubas has made.

Georgiev was insanely good against the Leafs (for a bad team) without having great overall stats suggesting his performances against the Leafs were some sort of aberration. If I can recall correctly, Georgiev has an unconventional style.

He would be a player to monitor as a reclamation project. There's a certain Hasek/Irbe vibe to him.

Rangers fans are really down on him right now, apparently they don't like how he's behaving behind the starter and they think he's being a bit of a problem

That's one thing I don't want in my young backup goalie

We did alright with Andersen giving up something equivalent to that, he wasn't world beating but he was solid as we become a contender

It can definitely work out sometimes, but just as often it doesn't.

Didn't Campbell come over in the Clifford trade?

Seravalli lists Justin Holl as a likely player the Leafs will trade (4th on his trade board).

"Scoop: Goaltender Petr Mrazek is inching closer to a return to the Maple Leafs’ lineup, having recently returned to practice with the team. That means the Leafs will need to clear some cap space in order to activate Mrazek off LTIR. Kyle Clifford is one easy transaction. But the Leafs will need to shed more than that. There are other ways, including waiving Wayne Simmonds or trading Nick Ritchie. Since Timothy Liljegren has played himself into an everyday role, the Leafs have had interest in both Holl and Travis Dermott, but Holl is older and earns more – in a role that’s not commensurate with his pay."

Mirtle also mentioned teams seem to like Holl a lot more than Dermott.

Which teams could use Holl?

The more i stare at the roster the clearcut best solution is to trade Ritchie, even if it's selling (extremely) low.

We need 7 dmen (at least) this year. Doesn't make sense to get rid of one of them. We will have a significant injury to a dman at some point. and probably more than just one.

And Ritchie has been the clearcut worst leafs forwards by any measure, by a lot. I kinda like the guy but that $2.5m clears up ALL of our cap tightness and gives us trade deadline space to boot. The Clifford add gives us some depth Muscle too, which is all that Ritchie is providing at the moment anyways. Guys like Clifford, Anderson, Ho-Sang, Robertson, Steeves give us plenty of depth forward options if we move Ritchie.

The more I think about it the more I'm sure it's the only logical move.

What would that trade look like in your opinion?

I agree... but ... not many teams are gonna line up for a 2.5M 0 goal forward.

man I dunno.

hopefully there's some GMs out there who love "big and strong and goals" enough to take on all his salary.

but even waiving him would work tbh.
