Think we can con someone into giving a conditional 1st for Dumba @ 50%?
I doubt that he catches a 2nd, much less a first. Retention helps some, sure but as a rental his landing spots will be extremely few. He’s been so bad I think getting a 4th rounder or better would be fine. Just please don’t trade him for a reclamation product.

Late 1sts really aren't that valuable. While this years draft is deep in forwards, it's not that deep, and the D pool is thin.

Dumba still has his legs, and seems healthy. He has always made mistakes... I thought he had gotten better a couple of years ago, but he seems to be reverting. I think a change of scenery might be good for him. I sure as hell don't agree with him having a letter. He should be an example to no one. JEE? Sure. Kap? Yeah. He's a star who works his ass off.

Even if this is correct, which it’s probably not, getting one for Dumba would still be a steal.

Since when? I realize they're not as valuable as high end picks, but they're still valuable.

A late 1st for Dumba would be a scenario that we accept and never look back on. Ever.

Dumba for TML 1st 2023+Holl

Foligno for EDM 1st 2023+Foegele

Middleton for LA 2nd 2023

Kap-Hartman-Zucc
Greenway-Eriksson Ek-Boldy
Shaw-Gaudreau-Duhaime
Dewar-Steel-Foegele
Petan

Brodin-Spurgeon
Goligoski-Addison
Merrill-Holl

MAF
Gus

Is this team that much worse than the current team? I don’t think it’s a huge difference and we get two extra 1sts and an extra 2nd in a draft loaded with centers. Goligoski draws in while we wait for O’Rourke/Hunt to earn their spot. Faber takes over Holl’s spot for next year.

I’m heavily intrigued by a Greenway-Eriksson Ek-Boldy line.

The youth movement is in full force.

I find all 3 of those to be reasonable and acceptable, even if 2 of the 3 would be highly unlikely.

"Team toughness" sure takes a hit though.

Middleton is more of a 5 than a 4, but at his cap hit you keep him. On a back line with Brodin, Spurgeon, and Addison, his physicality and toughness is needed.

I've been fed up with Dumba for a while. We don't have a replacement for him right now, and he would be missed, but everything points to him not being back next year, so we might as well get what we can get.

Foligno only gets moved for a really good deal. He is a useful player.

I know that GM's, players, and owners think quite differently than HFB posters. They do not give up on seasons until it is blindingly obvious that they are not going to make the playoffs.

- 50% chance that the Dumba trade happens. Holl coming back fills a hole for at least this year, and would be mildly popular because of his roots here.

- 20% chance that Foligno trade happens. I don't see EDM giving up a 1st +, but I guess Foegele is considered to be more of a -. He is signed for one more year after this one....do we really want that?

- 5% chance that the Middleton trade happens, at least this year.

This isn't the NFL, where you have a solid opportunity at a huge win, even at 22. In the NHL, just like NBA, if you're not in the Top 5, you are in a crapshoot after that.

Valuable? Maybe if it's a lottery pick or a chance thereof. Otherwise, anything in this day and age will be a cap reprieve for a team over those picks, IMO.

The NHL is somewhere in between the NFL and NBA.

Then Merrill should be moved. Personally, I think Merrill is better than Middleton at puck related things. Middleton is just 15 pounds heavier. Neither one of these two players should be in the top 4. One of them is and it drives me up a wall every time he touches the puck.

Trading Foligno is more capitalizing on his career year in terms of value. He’s 31 and doesn’t really fit into the upcoming Cup window starting in 2024. Plus, are we paying Eriksson Ek to be a $5.25M 3C? Get him a big skilled player (Boldy) and a nice facilitator (Greenway).

They need to trade Dumba for value. Letting him walk would be a mistake by Guerin.

I agree. Get something for Dumba while you can. It won't change much for this year. Fleury is out. That will make it hard to even make the playoffs this year. But if you can get something for Dumba....

Why do I feel like Dumba is going to be back? Some sort of bull about how Dumba is more valuable to the team, he plays the right way and that they couldn't get what they wanted.
