Depends on whether we have to take salary back, or retain. If we don't have to take any back, then a 2nd. If we retain, perhaps a late 1st.

Not ideal to be looking around for a backup rather than a 1B. Fleury is old in hockey terms, and I wouldn't be surprised if he runs into injury problems.

I would rather keep Talbot, if we have any dreams of being contenders this year.

I no longer dream. My nights are filled with the crying of my toddler and nightmares of my toddler crying.

So Bjugstad is gone, and Benn, not a surprise there.

And Deslauriers, the character guy, but lousy at hockey...and fighting

Wild: we’d like you to stay
Talbot: I want to be the starting goalie
Wild: Well we have a trade offer from Edmonton
Talbot: Please. Gawd no. I’ll be good. I’ll do whatever you want, just don’t send me back there. Please!

If Guerin was smart, he'd take the offer and run. I got to wonder if he's not trading Talbot because he doesn't have to and is taking it personally.

Some of the stuff you guys come up with…

It truly baffles me

He basically told his agent to shut the hell up, he doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to. Guerin has shown that if a player pisses him off, he's not afraid to be a bit vindicative.

That’s not vindictive. That’s putting an agent in their place when they try to pretend they have the upper hand in a situation.

Well I think there is the question of, what kind of contract Poolparty is going to get? $2m, $3m, $4m a year? He was on a 45p full season pace last season.
Also curious to what the pick and prospect are

His QO was 1.41. Projected contract is 4.132 x 4 years. Probably meet in the middle and give a 3-4 million contract (pretty much what we would pay Talbot) for three years. Or give Pool Party a 2.5 million prove it contract.

Agents are supposed to be looking out for their clients. More so, as a GM you don't want to piss off agents as then you tend to scare away potential FAs or your FAs tend to put up more of a fight to sign back. Finally, there is some concern as Guerin just signed back his buddy and Evason may decide that the 50/50 split isn't working and just give the starts to Fleury like he did last season.

Well you can go to the other side of the coin, you don’t let agents walk all over you.

Who said they are trying to walk all over Guerin? He doesn't seem good at this negotiation thing.

As someone mentioned here, why the hell is he giving fair deals to other GMs, but not any of his players? He's overpaying for his buddies (we'll see what Dumba's extension looks like), pissing off his young players and other players that don't seem to be in lock step with him and his vision.

Complete speculation on your part that you’re trying to pass off as gospel

Talbot's agent is doing his job. GMBG is doing his job. Neither of them is in the wrong for their comments.

If MN does trade Talbot they will need to replace somehow replace him in the lineup. Betting that Wallstedt or Jones can be a the backup for the full season would be a really big gamble.

His contract projections have a rather large range, and they need to be done quickly. Poolparty is a decent OS candidate. If someone did OS him at the top end of the cost of a 2nd range it gets very hard for MN to match.
