He's currently what I'm hoping Dewar turns into. 4th liner that chips in 20p, but can play up when there is injuries. Nothing special, but a win for a 3rd round pick.
I think he's a less gritty and physical Kunin. Unless Jost turns a corner in his development, I don't really get what role he is to play on the team.

Kunin has a better shot too.

Jost is more of a bad Ennis to me: looks busy, but accomplishes nothing. I don't think he has the ability that Ennis did to have games where he's the best player on the ice.

Jost is definitely someone I’d like to see get a shot in a Top 6 spot if room opens up (Zucc or Fiala).

If Fiala is traded, I’d try to extend Jost for cheap this off-season and give him a more expanded role.
I’d be fine with slotting him into Fialas spot if Rossi doesn’t wanna move up yet

I still think it's Ottawa, but the Islanders are my runner-up and it's not by much. If it comes down to which one Fiala's more interested in extending with, I could see New York winning out.

Anyone have thoughts about the difference between picks #7 and #13 in this draft? I haven't been paying attention, but it seems like there isn't a huge drop in that range. If that's the case the secondary pieces in an offer might factor more heavily, too.
I think it might be the difference between getting a 6-1 or 6-2 centreman and a 5-9 winger, but overall Impact is probably similar. All the guys in the 7-15 project to be top 6 players if all goes well, but you’re probably getting less desirable traits at that spot. To me, it’s the difference between a Gauthier/Kasper and a Savoie/Kemell. In certain situations, I wouldn’t mind the latter. But, with Rossi and Khusnutdinov already in the long term plans I think I’d probably want one of the first two guys.

I think he’s in between. He gets involved on the forecheck and boards a bit. Kunin did a lot of running around also, but Jost is better than ennis.

Fair, though Ennis had a couple of good year's with BUF. Don't think he was the same after the concussions.

Jost had over 300 NHL games before he game to MN. Kunin's running around looked more like a kid figuring out the NHL in his first 100 or so games, and being bounced around lines and center/wing.

Man, i see nothing at all in Jost. I'd rather he play for some other team's top 6.
I did not pay attention to his usage with the Avs, but it sounded like he was never given an opportunity in a bigger role. Given the emergence we’ve seen from Hartman, I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that he succeeds with some offensive talent. He looked decent in those few games he got with Fiala or Kap (can’t remember who).

This team just has very limited options on what they can do over the next 3 years. We need to find players who we can sign to contracts that we get positive value out of, which I believe Jost is one of the few that could.

If Slafkovsky goes #1 to MTL, does NJD trade out of the #2 spot, as they are one of the few teams that doesn't really need Wright with Hughes and Hischier already aboard?
I am not a huge Wright fan, but think he would be a great fit for this team. Would trade Fiala and our 1st, for sure, whereas I would not for any other player in this draft.

Id think they still take Wright and let him develop for a few years if the return isnt big enough.

I just don't see them trading that pick. The "Team X is open to trading the #1/#2/#3 overall pick" talk seems more like a yearly media tradition than something that ever comes close to happening. It's like offer sheets but an order of magnitude less likely.

Montreal has needed good centers since forever. Why would they actively pick a winger when there are two good centers to choose from at the top of the draft?

Well, they have Suzuki, who looks vg. Maybe they just think that Slafkovsky is going to be a better player?

I’d def trade for Wright. Even if he isn’t a superstar, that’s the only way a team is gonna trade out of that position. So no one would do Fiala+1st+Peart/O’Rourke/2nd assuming a team did that? It would fill a hole on the roster. Wright, Rossi, JEE sounds good for the next 5-8 years?

You aren't seriously comparing Rossi and Suzuki, are you?
Why does this seem like you are taken aback? I could see Rossi following the same trajectory at a slightly older age. He probably would have had 40+ points this year if he was playing between Boldy and Fiala.
