They don't need and cap circumvention with all the cap they've accumulated.
i dont disagree, just stating what a lot are saying. i dont really care to acquire the player but if we are just tinkering with maybes he isnt the worst option in the world given his speed and previous scoring abilities.

There was a statement or something from the league about them looking closely into LTIR usage of teams after the TDL.

I think back to his comments after trading Fiala. He didn't want to create a bidding war. Took the easy route. Do you think he could have fleeced Tampa like the Preds just did? Nope. Just feels like he's half-arsing it.

He appears to have a very strong personality, which, at times, can serve him well. He seems to speak what he thinks and does so in an honest, albeit blunt, fashion. I’m sure he appreciates those who deal with him in a similar fashion; straight to the point, no fluff… just sincere and honest communication.
Frankly I can get behind the idea of someone who holds himself like that.

The issue is, he can’t expect, least of all control, the other GM’s communication in the league. Where Guerin expects a straightforward conversation, others may be far more willing to “play the game” (so to speak). Anyone I’ve known to be like Guerin are very quick to disregard those they deem disingenuous, much less be respectful if they feel their time is being wasted.

I’m certainly no expert on NHL general managerial duties, but I would be stunned if there wasn’t some level of salesmanship that goes on between the “no fluff, no BS” lines that Guerin seems to regularly draw in the sand.

It would have to be a steal with the $900k vets.

I see that listed group as a top line, a 3rd line, a 4th line, and a pray to God line. The d-corps as a 2B, 2B and a sheltered 3rd pair. The goalies are goalies: maybe good, maybe bad, but probably somewhere in the middle.
I don't see much difference.

Out: Greenway, Goligoski, Fleury (buy-out, ~1.667m dead cap)
In: Hayes at 25% retained ($5.36M cap hit)

Next season:

kaprizov - hayes - zuccarello
boldy - rossi - hartman
foligno - eriksson ek - walker
duhaime (900k) - dewar - shaw (800k)

brodin - faber (900k)
middleton - spurgeon
merrill - addison (1x1.9m)

gustavsson (2x2.9m)
wallstedt (900k)

$100k cap space.

Do we hate this?
I don’t hate it. I don’t think people are kind here are aware of how good of a player hates is when healthy. With good retention I think it’s a great move barring giving up a 1st.

At least Hayes is actually a center and he’s bigger than 5’7

Still waiting on the return for Nyquist but I actually don’t mind the nyquist and mojo aquisitions. Say what you want about them as players, they’re more skilled than a lot of the forwards we have right now.

If the Marjo and Gus acquisitions mean Foligno and Greenway are out then I’m cool with it.

Nyquvist is more skilled (when healthy) for sure.

MarJo isn't more skilled than anyone, except maybe Reaves on the team. Reaves has a much different skillset, but at least he is near the top of the league in it.

Seeing the return that defensemen have gotten in recent years, I find it hard to believe we couldn’t have flipped Dumba for a 1st+ sometime in the past couple years.

I don't think so, not at his $6m cap hit (with term for past years). He just hasn't lived up to his cap and isn't great at anything. He's just decent at most things, but nothing about his game stands out among his peers.

No to Drouin, especially as a center.

The game is on soon, so you can finish your nap during that.
Probably correct but I’ve got to think he might flourish playing between Kap and Zucc. The dude has had star potential in the past. He would be better than Hartman there I think.

Sandin for a 1st
Ekholm for a 1st + late 1st prospect
Orlov for a 1st + 2nd (roughly)
Chiarot for 1st + 4th
Risto for 1st + 2nd + 2nd rd prospect

I feel like Dumba is within those category of players. If anything they could’ve even retained some this year with how much cap they held onto to start the year. Feels like Guerin’s ask has just been too high. Going to be very curious to see what kind of contract he gets this offseason.

Probably this for the playoffs if everyone is healthy:

Kap - Hartman - Zucc
Nyquist - Gaudreau - Boldy
GREEF
Johansson - Dewar - Duhaime

They're definitely giving the GREEF another try before the playoffs.

really dont like that. they can try the GRGF line instead. leave Freddy G there to play 3c.
