Keller's really had about three good months in just the last three months alone. He's great.
Amazing how he recovered from that brutal leg break. I remember watching that think of the way Suter went into the boards and hoping it wouldn’t derail the kids career. Man has he bounced back. Plays on a shit team in a shit situation and just produces. He’s like the anti-wild

He only skates and handles the puck on the PP, the rest of the time he doesn't have any positives. The PP will be just fine without him. Boldy, Kap, JEE, and Zucc are what make it work. The with/without numbers on stat trick back this up. Add in last season for a larger sample size of the 4 FWDs without Addison and they are 2.08 GF/60 higher and .73 ga/60 lower.

Dumba55 was a thing for a reason and he changed his number from 55 to 24 after his 1st full season. He was benched and sent down to the AHL for a stint in his first full season. Dumba was 20 compared to Addison's 22. Dumba also was +13 (tied 4th best on the team) for the season and Addison is -18 (dead last by a lot).
What, like the PP was fine w/o him in previous years?
Would anyone make this trade? (Starting point)

Kaprizov + 2nd/B prospect

For

Cozens + Savoie + 2023 1st unprotected

Boldy-Cozens-Savoie
Rossi-MK-Yurov
2023 1st/Walker-Ek-Ohgren
4th line
no. We finally get a true impact player, then trade him for nice, but not elite C, a prospect who hasn’t proven a thing, and a pick in the teens. I like Cozens, but he is not special.
Kaprizov is a rare player. Players like him who can impose their will on the game and make your jaw drop nightly just don’t come along often.

I wouldn't feel great about it, but I also don't feel great about giving Kaprizov $100M/8 at age 29, so I'm torn.

Love weaponizing cap space but when do we make our own trades?

JEE, Boldy, Kap, and Zucc are just fine, the guy on the point doesn't matter much at all. Take out any of the FWDs and the PP will tank again, no matter who is on the point.

Or put Addison on PP2 so he can magically fix that, since he makes a big difference.

Cozens is also only 22, so there’s room for growth. A lot would be riding on the pick and Savoie, but if the pick ends up in the 10-13 range, it would be interesting. I just think a hypothetical trade like that lines up with our future core better than KK does. I just hate seeing us waste 2-3 years of his prime. We’re wasting it, sad but true.

Those 4 were all on the PP last year, when it was mediocre. Sometimes Fiala, too.

If Kaprizov goes to BUF , they aren’t missing the playoffs.

I never did say it had to be at the deadline. I’m just talking future. Could be at the draft; it ain’t happening so it doesn’t matter.

If Kap is gone, then I will be, too. Only way I’ll accept trading him away is if he demands a trade.

You only get those type of players once in a generation or so( on your team).

What is the master plan here with these moves for picks that have like a 5% chance to do anything?

Nothing really to get excited over, but you can't really complain about weaponizing your cap space.

As of right now, I'd question why we didn't use more to get more BUT I'll wait until after the deadline to pass judgement.

Also, so far it hasn't seemed like a lot of players that would need to be retained have moved so... /shrug

Sort of amusing that they’re keeping players in the East by doing this. Now retain on Kane so he can go East as well and out of the hands of Vegas or Dallas.
