Is that even legal?
I don't know. I know conditional picks on re-signing aren't, so probably not. I just really don't get this.

Now that would be big brain.Maybe Guerin facilitated this so Kane would be more open to Minnesota since Toronto and New York are now probably no longer interested
Are you kidding? This is great! This completely ruined my buzz from the game.
If that's the 4D chess he's playing I'll retract most of my negative statements about him.Maybe Guerin facilitated this so Kane would be more open to Minnesota since Toronto and New York are now probably no longer interested
So we traded a 5th + 7th a couple years ago for a 4th a couple years from now. And Leipold lost some cash. Better make the playoffs now. Can't be having him losing that cash for nothing.
TBH, I had completely forgotten about Pillar.
I just read something today that said that is no longer is. The "Zuccarello rule" from the Dallas trade. Is that even legal?
In 2020, the NHL modified their rules. Teams can no longer include a condition in a trade that would send further compensation if a player is re-signed.
So, we can expect impact in 2030... got it... hard to care much about a pick for a player that won't be here for another 7 years. That 4th in 2025 will turn into another Kaprizov so don't worry...
Maybe we'll finally have a 1C by then. Maybe. So, we can expect impact in 2030... got it...
*looks back at the past 23 years*Maybe we'll finally have a 1C by then. Maybe.
It wasn’t that much and I don’t really care about the helping St. Louis improve thing. I’m sure they would’ve found another team to get the deal done with.So Guerin bought a 4th round pick for $631,000, in an effort to help one of our main adversaries improve.
He’s such a
I have a hard time believing there’s another GM in the league who thinks a 4th is worth $631,000.It wasn’t that much and I don’t really care about the helping St. Louis improve thing. I’m sure they would’ve found another team to get the deal done with.

Seems like an underpayment in cap space, but 75k in actual dollars for a 4th sounds about right. I’ve seen some models try and put a dollar value on picks, but it’s tough to say how accurate they are when part of the equation has to do with how much budget the owner gives their team, which varies. Either way, it’s not overly inspiring. I’d rather have the 4th than the cap space, and it’s at least encouraging to see Guerin trying to use cap space as an asset, but it feels like this is Billy G wants to give the impression that he’s being productive when he’s really just twiddling his thumbs buying time until the buyouts are done. I know what that looks like, I do it all the time.
What exactly are you guys expecting for $74k, $557k in cap, and Josh Pillar? A 2nd round pick?
His article didn't mention anything about it being conditional. Maybe he misspoke in his tweet?I don't care about the money or Pillar (though I'm a little confused by including him), I just wanna know what the condition is

I think we can rob someone of a 2nd/3rd round pick for retaining on Toews/Kane, maybe both. Sounds like we can retain on up to three contracts.Well that certainly takes the excitement out of it
