There are a number of great players on expiring contracts looking to be moved this deadline. Too many for most of the cap straped contenders. We just gave away a 3rd of our deadline capspace for a 4th.

f***ing embarrassing

We sent Pillar to the Blues too??

25% of RoR and Pillar for a conditional fourth? Does it somehow become a second if something?

Somehow Pillar is involved too

That is an excellent point! I would assume conditional means it has a chance to improve

Hopefully this is an indication that we're not buyers, in any case

They traded up (5th and a 7th) to draft Pillar (4th) a couple of years ago.

Yeah that's why I'm confused why we're giving him away for free, essentially

That’s exactly what I thought and was hoping for obviously.

I might care about this in 2025. I really don't think I care 1% about this right now.

I care now. If BG says I'm gonna sell, call uo Rossi and Walker and just see what happens, and weaponize the capspace. Great. Do it.

But it seems like a low return for that weapon weaponized capspace compared to other recent examples which has been a trend with our GMs.

So Pillar doesn't have a contract. I'm wondering if the condition could be the 4th becomes a 3rd if Pillar signs with whoever got him?

Pillar is a FA June 1st, so I guess he would have been gone anyway. Still ends up as a weird pick, trade up to draft him as an overager and then not sign him.

Still, a 2025 4th? I mean, that’s terrible! A 4th is nothing!
Please tell me there is more to the deal.
I mean a 4th isn’t anything special but it’s Guerins deciding on a direction here that’s big. He spent a small chunk of our available deadline cap and 75k in real money for a 4th and put the rest of the league on notice that we are willing to put the cap to use for picks

I don’t hate that and Toronto is still gonna lose in the 1st rd lol

So we traded a 5th + 7th a couple years ago for a 4th a couple years from now. And Leipold lost some cash. Better make the playoffs now. Can't be having him losing that cash for nothing.

Maybe Guerin facilitated this so Kane would be more open to Minnesota since Toronto and New York are now probably no longer interested
