I’m absolutely worried we’re going to overpay for scoring rentals now to try to bounce back into the playoff race. I just can’t see us actually selling. I fully wish we would though. So few actual sellers, we could prob make some sneaky good deals and get a mix of 1sts/2nds for guys that normally wouldn’t be worth near that much otherwise.

As discussed above I bet Foligno can get a 1st. Greenway a 2nd, maybe someone is crazy enough to give a late first for Dumba, maybe something even crazier some team gets desperate and gives a 1st for Hartman too.

If Guerin can combine the value of Greenway, Dumba, our cap space and a 2nd to get a top 6 F and another decent D, I think he should do it.

It's a down year in the West, and if the Wild get in on the Pacific side of the bracket, they have a decent chance to get to the conference finals. Vegas, LA, Seattle and Edmonton don't scare me in the least.

9. Brock Boeser
Right Wing, Vancouver Canucks
Age: 25
Stats: 47 GP, 10 G, 25 A, 35 Pts
Contract: 2 more seasons, $6.65 million AAV
Scoop: Word is beginning to circulate that the Canucks are willing to entertain a deal for Boeser that includes Vancouver retaining some salary. It likely would not be a significant amount, but the Canucks are ready to move on. Their push to finally, once and for all, create some salary cap flexibility is real. We know that Boeser is looking for a change of scenery, too. He’s already been given the ability to seek a trade through his agent. Boeser hasn’t scored at his typical rate this season, but he’s still at 0.73 points per game (61-point pace), and he does have value as a scoring winger. The concern for teams is the term. For a detailed breakdown of Boeser’s game and potential fits, read his in-depth Trade Deadline player profile.

I foresee something like this

Guerin: the team is gonna tell me what to do at the deadline
The team: *tells him they suck and he should sell*
Guerin: *trades a 2nd and a 4th for a 33+ former Penguin he wants to extend and a fourth liner with grit anyway*

We need a full background check on JVR to make sure he's never been near the Penguins or Guerin.

Edit: ****! He was on the 2014 Olympic team and Shero was the AGM. We're boned.

I don’t mind Boeser, especially if Vancouver is retaining. This team desperately needs a better RH shot. Spurgeon’s flubbed shot in the middle of the slot on 6v5 was hard to watch.

Fleury and Goli contracts don’t leave a lot of wiggle room to fit him in next year though. Especially with whatever extension Gus is getting.

Having zero one-timer threats on that side on the PP would also qualify.

Does the team have any 1-timer threat at all? I guess Kap counts but he's a threat whenever and wherever he touches the puck in the o-zone.

Puljujarvi was not at the morning skate. Him for Greenway or something similar would be a reasonable move.

Looking at the cap Edmonton is ~1.7 million over if they activate Yamamoto. Retain on Greenway? Trade Hartman?

We simply cannot retain on Greenway. It works fine for this year, but not the future years.

Poolparty would be a futures or something like Steel, Duhaime, Dewar, Shaw (contract wise) NHL player for EDM.

I would think or at least hope that Guerin realizes there's more work to be done on this roster and the reason we could retain is because guys like Foligno and Hartman are going to be moved for futures to make space for the guys in Iowa. Doesn't need to be at this deadline, but can happen over the summer. They are a lot more tradeable than trying to get rid of Greenway without retaining anything.

Greenway and Dumba is enough for me.

I think you listen on Foligno and Hartman, but only do something there if it's a Godfather offer.

And see what Goligoski and Fleury are thinking. But I'd almost rather hang onto Fleury so Gus doesn't steal draft spots from us.

I think the Wild want to re-sign Zuccarello to a 2yr 35+ deal, it can be done this off-season. It all depends on how much Zucc wants to leave on the table. I doubt he's going to retire now, still going strong, and there are a few million bucks out there waiting for him.

Folks mention trading Foligno, but he may not even be healthy by the deadline.
Veteran move by Foligno…

They would be out of their minds to extend him this off season for one year, let alone two.

From his POV, as much as he must be loving playing with Kap, I could also seeing him wanting to move to a contending team, and/or maxing out on the very few earning years he has left.

Would be a mistake this summer IMO, when you have an entire additional season to assess where Zucc might be at. I highly doubt that he would do anything in that season to cause his number to go up.

A Norwegian journalist just talked to Zuccarello and Russo about this. It sounds like Zucc wants to wait a year or so to make a decision.

Zucc: We'll deal with that when time comes. It depends on how I feel healthwise and if I'm still good enough.

Russo: When you have a player who makes Kaprizov look as good as he does, and Zuccarello shows no sign of declining at all, then I think they'll try to re-sign him. The Wild obviously can't offer him 6M because of the cap situation, but I think they'll do everything they can to keep him. The sky is the limit for the Zuccarello & Kaprizov duo.

What would you think his min would be stay?
